The new opeth songs sound like this?
hahaha.
did you guys know there's linkin park fans that like opeth now? I was bored the other day went to their board and searched for 'opeth'... and it returned quite a bit of results. I remember reading one guy saying the two should collaborate

^ wtf? i just looked there and it seems normal for everyone to like opeth and linkin park - never heard any other linkin park fan interested in opeth... strange shit there

I found that thread on their forums...
Mos Def, Mobb Deep, Opeth, Xzibit, or Nas.
:err:

I don't really wanna sound like a fanboy, but I really love every single moment of it.

10/10

I really enjoy every bit of it too. I especially love the rhythm behind the solo, it's so depressing, yet beautiful.

My reaction is the opposite of how I reacted to the grand conjuration, in that the first listen really captured me.

I used to be a linkin park fan, had both of their cd's, and still enjoyed thrash metal. There's not really any problem with that, as long as Opeth never changes their music to purposely accomodate nu-metal/mtv bands and/or to purposely make money rather than do it for the music.

yeah I'm cool with it, I just found it rather odd. I was never a LP fan but back when I was into that MTV-ish music I pretty much stopped listening within 3 months of discovering classic rock.

I got my girlfriend loving opeth, and she likes LP. I personally think Linkin Park is fucking horrible though, but at least I got her to realize Opeth kicks ass.
haha I'm going to have to undertake that task soon myself! just started dating a girl who likes LP and other nu bands, but also Tool, APC and Mars Volta. Gonna have to introduce her to some new stuff :) wish me luck.

Whisper Supremacy.

yea il check it out, i mean i like a couple of the songs on the first cd - defenestration, open face surgery (what a scream!?!), and patholigcal frolic are pretty cool -but mostly unmemorable because of the horrid, horrid production.

I likes me the tracks i heard from none so vile though.

now that I've finally heard it - 9/10 easily, I think it's one of the most diverse songs they've ever done...they throw something new at you every 30 seconds, and it's not repetitive at all. Some of the singing just didn't sound that great to me, but besides that it was a pretty incredible song

you probably bought "blasphemy made flesh" thinking it was "None so vile"...do me a favor. Get None So Vile.

And for the people thinking Ghost of Perdition sounds a little nu metal...how in the fuck? what? "Oh my god, there's a stop in the riff, it must be nu metal." Wow, a stop...a stop in riff, that must be so terrible for the ears. Elitism seriously has gone too far. People need to think for more than 2 seconds about whether or not a King Crimson influence or a stop in a riff makes Opeth nu metal.

^ nah, i went to the store all excited to get me some none so vile - but all they had was blasphemy made flesh so i just got that instead - o well.
