Altar Shadows - Specledy Falcons

Who was the sound engineer behind this album, Lou Ferrigno?!? Good fucking Christ, the album is filled with static. I may be out of touch with nature, but does static represent being out in the wilderness under a canopy of stars? Is Mr. A Shadows attempting to make a transistor radio out of two coconuts?!?! I never seen such a thing on Lost, Survivor, or Gilligan's Island, so I'm clueless to why you would go for such a sound. Very little metal elements to be found in this glorified sound track to "Poltergeist". The acoustic elements are about as timid as MajestikMoose's tongue while splitting the sea of sashimi that layeth in between Suspiria's chapped athletic pubalgia.

Hel- Falland Vorandi

1 hour, 20 tracks, of the most inconsistent, Black, Folk, Pagan, whatever you want to call it (I call it shit) which I have had the displeasure of audiogenically imbibing in. Just when you think the music has come a part at the seams, a bright shiny moment is to be heard off in the distance.

Hark, who goes thar?! Could that be a decent riff I hear in the expanse?!?!

Before you can even hear your own echo replying with the answer of, "Yes, this is a pretty kick ass moment", the music shifts directions to quell all signs of positivity.

To the tradelist these albums go.

King Diamond - Gimme your Soul....Please

Before it was even released, I was wary just because of its crappy title, and inevitably, the music is just as crappy. Maybe a highlight here or there but nothing to save it from being quite possibly one of the worst albums KD has ever released. To further the disappointment, this was the long awaited release following the glorious Puppet Master, and I thought they had found a good formula and was perfectly ready to get Puppet Master Part 2 but instead got House Party 3.

Baroness - Red Album

There are moments of complete brilliance....but why the fuck did they have to go and use that gay clean vocal style on this album?!

Upwards of Endtime - From Genesis to Apocalypse and Beyond

Admittedly, I haven;t listened to it enough yet but my initial spins have been underwhelming. It just seems to lack the gusto that the two previous releases had.

Deathspell Omega - Fas, Ite...

WTF happened here? It's not even listenable imho. Just a chaotic mishmash of noise.

QOTSA - Era Vulgaris

There are a few good songs but overall, very mediocre. I think they lost it. We'll see when the next album comes out. Hopefully, it's just a hiccup.

Wotan - Epos

They slowed it down bigtime, trying to create an even more epic atmosphere (I suppose). They failed.

Agent Steel - Alienigma

Forgettable. Bring back the old days.

I was disappointed by the fact that I didn't get a beej from my lovely wife last night. Judging by the previous posts, however, I feel that these should be disappointments related to crappy releases.

:hypno: Look deep in my eyes as I jack this thread :hypno:

Joy Division - Still

I listened to this album for the first time a month or so ago and was simply stunned on how far off my pre-conceived notion of this band was. I was expecting an all out emotional rollercoaster of an experience, what I ended up with was MooseMusik. If any of you are in to the audio-matrix that are soundtracks, I strongly suggest picking up the soundtrack to "Heat". You will be floored by the pageantry of sound which is on display. The track offered by Joy Division is simply marvelous. Which is pretty much the only positive I can say about this band. This dud known as "Still" will inevitably remain at the bottom of the compost heap next to Frostmoon Eclipse's "Dead and Forever Gone" and Orthodox's "Gran Poder".

Stay far away.

Mind posting a pic?

Joy Division kick ass. Try Closer or Unknown Pleasures, the only two actual albums they released. I don't wtf Still is.

The new Queens album BLOWS.

I didn't like Farsot as much as I had hoped.

recent? as in 2007 releases?

Devin Townsend - Ziltoid
Clutch - From Beale Street to Oblivion
Moonsorrow - Haveatitty (anyone wanna trade?)

On the fence: Abigor - Fractal Possession

I haven't heard it, but I'm pretty sure it's like a compilation of rare tracks or b-sides or whatever those cool kiddos want to call it.

I've seen loads of stuff listed as being in their discography, but I ignore it all 'cept for the 2 real albums, which are GREAT to the max. The rest are probably just cash-ins, eh

Yeah I hear that, I don't dig this album. don't dig it like a FOX

yep. (nope).

Well fuck, I should have looked further in to Joy Division before picking up that release. It looked like a standard full length to me so I just grabbed the fucker on sale at Amoeba.

It's growing more and more on me, it's just a pity that all the riffs are in the background.

1. Bollocks
2. I need to hear this band, is their other one good?

I hear a brilliant progression from SMRC to Kenose to Fas. Each one getting more dynamic and changing their style of attaining the atmosphere.

Brain and Buckethead - Kevin's Noodle House

I expected a lot more than cheesy simple drum machine stuff from Brain, I WANTED REAL DRUMS, IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK!?

Agreed. Not sure if it's "brilliant" progression, but progression nonetheless. It just goes way over my head and I prefer my music to be much much dumber. Let's face it, DsO turned into complete wankers on Fas, just for the sake of being wanky. It's a very French thing to do. :goggly:
