recommend me some black metal?

i second dissection, although im not a big fan of that style they have alot of cool parts (even acoustic, fingerstyle songs segments that i personally enjoy.) they sound pretty varied in their song making but then again ive only heard shit like darkthrone that doesnt change ever

recently i got into Negura Bunget (thanks to serenity now! ) and alcest's little ugly sister, Amesoeurs (the more blackmetalish side of alcest, also by neige the genius. brilliant stuff by the way).

i dont know i you could actually call these 2 black metal by definition' but, can you recommend me some good sounding BM? But something thats recorded properly, not a "ive-made-it-at-home-late-drunken-night" kind of sound..

dw ive never heard an actual musical defintion for black metal anyway (i doubt one exists) but it doesnt matter, if you get recommended music that you like, it shouldnt matter if its considered black metal or christian pop rock

"Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice" and "Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum" are the two first parts of a trilogy, so I'd recommend you start with "SMRC", then go with "Kénôse" ( which is considered by the band as something of an "appendix" to "SMRC") and "Fas" after that. And then join us in our wait for the last part.

Cheers mate :)

Listening to Fas by Deathspell is like getting lost in some addictive, hellish nothingness or some shit like that. Few metal albums are so uncontrolled, yet so cohesive and perfectly orchestrated. The whole thing is a mindfucking journey of the best kind, there is an uncanny quality to the album and it shocks me how good it is.

mah 2 cents

Funeral Mist, Burzum(if no-one has mentioned him), Watain, Ofermod, Shining, Celestia, Mortifera, Forgotten Tomb, Antaeus, Arckanum, Armagedda, Woods of Infinity, Carpathian Forest, Craft, Drudkh, Nokturnal Mortum, Forgotten Woods, Glorior Belli, Gris, Hyadningar, Mörl Gryning, Ondskapt, Peste Noire, Silencer, Bethlehem...

And lots of others...

A band I've just discovered and mentioned in the Now Playing thread, Ved Buens Ende. They've split-up now, but they released a corker of an album back in '95 entitled 'Written In Waters'. Highly recommended. It's musically sort of a precursor to later-Deathspell Omega.

Huzzah! Someone else who noticed that DsO blatantly loved VBE!

Pretty much look out for avant-garde or experimental 'black metal' bands.. They're generally far more interesting than traditional bm..

I agree with you! Solefald, Arcturus, Diabolcal Masqurade, Blut Aus Nord, Fleurety etc.

ive got that album. i bought it because reviewers said it was a mix of black metal and soft, jazz passages. they fucking lied theres no jazz to be found. but they arent too bad. i also have a cd by Fleurety (sp?) which is nice, sounds like ved buens ende and wow, i can hear the bass guitar in this??!!
