Recommend me Some "Good" Death Metal

Suprised to see that no one said Obituary's Cause Of Death album. Check this album out, it's classic death metal. Tardy's vocals are sick! I'm listening to right now as I type this.

im obsessed with these guys

There is ( at least ) one band suspiciously absent from this flood of recommendations. And as it is one of the greatest death metal bands ever, I will name it and it alone -- for dramatic purposes. :p

GORGUTS.

You must ... and you will ... procure this band's repertoire.

Please?

I can't believe this one has been left out sofar:

Carnage - Dark Recollections (Dismember/Carcass members!)

I've yet to hear a more thumping devastation guitar sound!

Agalloch are considered a death/doom metal band..Funny you ask because not everyone considers Opeth a death metal band with all those ballads that our buddies in Opeth do so well, and acoustic interludes..Damn Opeth are due out for a very non metal MELLOW CD in March of 2003,(Damanation) does that not make Opeth metal are just very diverse..? Hails..-l-

I wasn't saying Agalloch weren't a metal band. I just wondered why they were recommended as "death metal" when they are clearly not. Someone puts in "The Mantle" expecting Vomitory-type metal they're going to be sorely disappointed (or relieved, depending on your viewpoint).

best death metal albums (IMO)
no particular order:
Brutality- When the Sky Turns Black
Suffocation- Pierced from Within
Death- TSOP
Sinister- Hate
Morbid Angel- Covenant and BATS
Immolation- Here in After
Cryptopsy- none so Vile
Theory in Practice- Colonizing the Sun
Sadistic Intent- Resurrection
Vital Remains- Forever Underground and Dawn of the Apocalypse

many more, not going to do it...too tired....

Avoid anything labeled "Swedish melodic death" dated post Slaughter of the Soul....it's ear-candy pop music (points at In flames, Soilwork and Arch Enemy's last few releases......)

These are my current death metal favorites:

Bloodbath - Resurrection Through Carnage
Gorguts - I worship their entire catalogue.
Necrophagist - Epitaph
Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
Morbid Angel - Covenant
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Nile - Annihilation Of The Wicked
Hypocrisy - Virus
Hypocrisy - The Arrival
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Death - Leprosy
Death - The Sound Of Perseverance
Obituary - The End Complete
Obituary - Cause Of Death
Vader - Litany
Vader - The Beast
Behemoth - Demigod
Behemoth - Satanica
Entombed - Unreal Estate (One of the greatest live albums of all time)
Edge Of Sanity - All of their albums are equally good!

This is all that comes to mind at the moment... :)
