recommend me some movies

you should watch the television broadcast version with the happy ending and not bother with the crappy version that preserves the director's "vision" and tells the story the way it's "meant" to be told and has a lame downer ending that's "deep" and "symbolic".

Thursday!!!!! you must see Thursday. may be a little hard to find though.

Way of the Gun
SFW (So Fucking What)
Love & a .45
Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb (animation, claymation, and real actors)
Tetsuo the Iron Man / Tetsuo - Body Hammer
Bad Lieutenant
Requiem for a Dream
Cube I & II
Ronin
Last Samurai
Romper Stomper

Damn, I've got the LIST at home but I'm at work, it's the end of the day and my brain hurts. Hopefully you haven't seen some of these. Enjoy!

I thought it was pretty good. Not as good as the first though. You no how it is, alot of it just depends on your taste in movies and the mood you're in. I'll usually give something a second chance if I wasn't impressed the first time. The 1st time I saw Resident Evil I thought it sucked donkey dick, but after seeing it again I thought it was pretty cool.

Talk to Her (spanish film. clean, elegant style, if a little too sterile, going on with it.)
There are certainly better Almodovar movies than Talk to Her to start with, especially All about my Mother or Women on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown....

as people have mentioned, see Rashomon in relation to seeing Hero.
and i know i've said it before, but Adaptation is amazing on many levels.

alex- in college, i similarly had only three tapes which were filled with james bond flicks recorded from one of those tbs marathons with promos of a girl who kept saying in a sultry voice "Wanna Bond?" - i watched them incessantly, along with a spanish game show where girls wore tight clothing. but that contributed heavily to my love of john barry's music.

I did that with 2001: A space Odyssey, two Pink Panthers movie, another Peter Selllers movie, Murder by Death, and Citizen Kane

"Big houses like big women, difficult to go around..."

I don't know what kind of movie you're looking for, but I must recommend The Hudsucker Proxy. Excellent fantastical comedy/drama by the Coen brothers and Sam Raimi.

I've been meaning to get the DVDs of both Six Feet Under and The Sopranos for a long time. I have certain friends who keep raving about them. I wish I would have read avi's post before I left, otherwise I would have gotten one of those instead of Commando.

the best part of commando is the title sequence, when Arnold and Alyssa Milano are father-daughter bonding by, like, feeding deer and shit. then Arnold goes nuts and kills 100+ people.

omg yeah, I was laughing so hard. Feeding deer and sharing ice cream.

also "you scared, motherfucker? cuz this green beret is 'bout to kick your ass."

"I eat green berets for breakfast. and right now I'm very hungry."

i cant remember the exact quote but that part near the beginning when he comes home and finds his daughter's been kidnapped and there's this scummy guy sitting in his living room who's like "Okay, John. Let's make a deal."

and Arnold says something like "NO DEALS" and blows him away.

we watched it a couple of times and counted the number of people he killed in that final blitz scene. a very high number i can't quite recall now.

I was actually thinking about the total body count for that movie. It's probably on the internet somewhere.

And I think that quote is like,

"We have your daughter, John. The only way you'll get her back is if you cooperate with us. So I guess you have no choice, right?"

"WRONG!" *shoots him in the face*
