recommendation: ashes against the fuckin grain

I was fully expecting "Not Unlike the Waves" to blow me away given all the praise it's been getting, but as good as it was, it wasn't an early stand out track to me. Those would be "Limbs" and "Our Fortress is Burning II".

just right, baby! Those are the 2 songs I dig the most as well

look, i don't dislike all noise "music", but fortress III is JUST NOT A VERY GOOD NOISESCAPE

i've heard bands/artists do that shit 209029092 times better

it's practically in MONO for fuck's sake

In that one interview that was posted, they said they would like to do an entire album like Not Unlike the Waves.

watch Doomcifer and all the noise-isn't-music crybabies bitch when they do a whole album like "The Grain" :loco:

I'd be equally opposed to both options, as much as I love the former track...an Agalloch album where everything sounds the same would lead me to believe they're running out of ideas...

This I got from a recent Agalloch interview made by Metal Coven, which apart from the passage below was pretty uninteresting.
Anyway I think his reply is very true and insightful, and it's a shame not more bands adhere to his beliefs:

Nick: When you are dead and gone, what do you want to be remembered for most as a person?
Don: I'd like to be remembered for expanding the musical vocabulary of heavy metal. That is the genre we are working with. I think any bands success should be measured by how much the contribute to the language, and I just hope that with we are doing, we can open up possibilities for what it means to be metal.

There's a bunch of people on TER forum who haven't received theirs either yet, I'm sure it'll come eventually.

you know there's one thing i'm missing on this new album

there needs to be a "FOREVER! (forever!)" like on all previous albums

1. To never escape and lie in a pool... of death... FOREVER! (FOREVER!)
2. A bitter, black frozen hell... for me... FOREVER! (FOREVER!)
3. And silence her shrill, tormenting voice... FOREVER! (FOREVER!)

i'm thinking it might very well top the mantle. not yet, but maybe in 10 listens. but NO ALBUM EVER BY ANY ARTIST is going to topple pale folklore from its throne of might. i'm pretty sure of this.
