Heh, I've actually never been a player in WFRP, but I've GMed it since '96.... I'm growing a bit tired with the career based system, if the player is not playing wizard, priest, or other levelled career and the career exits are not controlled by GM, it's sure that when the campaign is getting nearer it's conclusion (=lot of xp gained) there's bunch of assassins, outlaw chiefs, elven wardancers and mercenary captains in the party, whatever their origins might've been. I've been thinking of converting the system to D20 (which is pretty objective and comprehensive) , to Fading Suns rules (which I like very much) or maybe create my own set of rules (which would take eternity to get them balanced and working)...
Oh, and to mention two games I forgot, this would be the humor game genre: Og and Violence. First one is a caveman game, where the characters have 17 word vocabulary. Great game after 18 hour marathon with some more serious game, even though the "adventures" usually end when somebody gets eaten by "fast-fast-hairy-bang" (cheetah) or something similar.
Violence is described on the cover: "roleplaying game of egregious and repulsive bloodshed" and considering the five characterics characters have (Strenght, Threshold of Pain, Constitution, Intimidation and Everything Else), I think it speaks for itself. The rulebooklet is worth a read even if you're never going to play the game, just for the laughs. Also very good game after more serious games. Especially after intrigue filled gamesessions the brainless bloodshed is just relaxing...
