It would be an extension of Royal Carnage (RC Records) but just run by myself. I would only consider very select releases at limited quantities. My only financial return would be to break even, but I guess I'd be lucky at that.

I've been thinking about it for a while now. I wrote to John Cobbet to discuss a special 10" release of the Unholy Cadaver demo (no response yet). I've also written to Exit to Eternity to see where they are with the new material (still recording the demo). Perhaps I could do their MCD?

I've also written to Chris (Bruni) at Profound Lore, and Joseph (dubloth) at Vendlus and both have been VERY helpful in giving me some pointers, including vinyl and CD duplication companies etc.

It would all be low key, and perhaps I'll try to venture into the San Francisco underground since there seems to be some magic in the waters out in CA these days.

I think that would be cool. I'd buy whatever you release to help out, even if it is....gulp....gay. :D

Seriously, go for it if you can. Give it a shot. If you don't, you'll always wonder.

I wanna start a distro :( Maybe i could help out with the obviously necessary Canadian distribution of your many, many releases of HEAVY METUHL!

If you have the time, money, and drive to do so, then go for it! Oh, be sure to send UM all your releases for review. :tickled:

take out a second mortgage on your house, snatch up NB before some other label does and have them do a US tour ... I'll try to gather some skanks

Aye, PM me ya cunt, me mate and I are getting ready to open a recording studio and I want to add a goddamn label along with it.

Move to San Diego, ya? :D :D :D

Here is my take on this situation:

Start a label and sign Noltem- I need it! :loco: But seriously... you could pull it off I think- I would certainly support you!

If there's a market, then sure. I wouldn't start anything without knowing whether there actually is interest enough from the general public or not, though.

I think you should definitely go for it; as I see it you have the two main ingredients needed to form a smaller label: a great love for music and the economic means (I presume ;)) through your job

the guy in the suit is correct.

be ready to spend a shitload of money on advertising.

Wow, great support! Shit, I might just start it today!! :tickled:

OK so this is good feedback on the poll. 12 say yay, 2 say nay. I've been floating on option #3 for a while myself...but it's good to get all feedback.

I've been thinking about it for a while, obviously RC is pretty well rooted to the ground now, and I honestly think the new site is going to turn us into a "real" zine finally. Also, as someone mentioned, the contacts I've made are great (both artist and label). It's like one big family out there, heh.

Also, I want to add, I am going to select very low key releases. I'm not going to turn this into a business venture at all -- I don't see myself making any money on this. Like I said, if I break even, that would rule immensely. I see all the pitfalls already. It's just like a small ambition to say that I tested the waters and took the plunge.

Honestly, if I was able to get 2 - 3 releases out there (limited runs of 7" EPs, MCDs, or even great demos) I would see that as a success.

Again, small label, small releases (perhaps something that went unnoticed in the underground), resurfacing an old demo etc. To hell with genres, I just want to help get some cool shit out there. OMG L@@K LIMITED TO 100 COPIES, heheh that sort of thing.

Perhaps something to complete (or add to) a collection for an audience that already exists... *ideas whirring*

Plus, once you get a couple of releases going, you can trade 'em with distros and shit, get your hands on some cool shit to sell to us!

What sort of genres would you be looking for? I'm not trying to turn this into like a bandwhore thread, but I am definitely looking for someone reliable to work with in the future. I know you're not trying to like start with new bands and everything, but if you're interested along the road, we should talk...

edit: this is, of course, completely assuming that you like my music :)
