No, no, no...
See, South America is everything from Venezuela down. Central America is everything from Guatemala to Panama. And North America is Greenland (although that should be part of Europe, since it belongs to Denmark), Canada, the USA and Mexico. Since americans (i.e. people from the USA) dislike latin americans, including mexicans, they say Mexico is in Central America / South America (i've heard both versions) so that they don't have to share a continent with us (which is stupid, since North America, Central America and South America are parts of the same continent; Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Russia aren't different continents, are they?).
Now, Latin America isn't a region, but rather all of the countries in America which were colonized by countries that speak languages that evolved from latin (Brazil was colonized by Portugal, where they speak portuguese, which evolved from latin; and the rest of Latin America was colonized by Spain, where they speak spanish, which evolved from latin). So Mexico, Central America (except for Belize), South America and the countries of the Caribbean are all part of Latin America.
Hope that clears things up.
