Death/Black vocalists tend to blow out their voices faster than clean singers, especially if they play live as well. Ihsahn, David Vincent and Mikael Alerfeldt sound like shit these days.
To me they sound kind of whisper-y on DOP and became more forceful as the albums progressedNope. I love him and Immolation but his vocals sound much thinner than on earlier albums. Still good tho.
What about Tom Araya?
One of the most startlingly well-preserved vocal talents in the genre alongside singers such as Göran Edman. He lacks some of the absolute top end of his range, but Arch still sounds fantastic.
David DeFeis and Robert Lowe.
Shame DeFeis can't write good music anymoreLast three Virgin Steele albums have been so bad.
It's like corny overproduced arena rock or something.
That's so much better than the corny underproduced Manowar/Iron Maiden fusion of their 90s period.
What does underproduced even mean? You're trying too hard here.![]()
I was just making fun of your post. Those albums are pretty wimpy sounding though.
Kinda surprised no ones mentioned King Diamond. Sure, he has his wife assist him on stage for the most part, but he can still hit most of those highs even at his age. I had a pretty comparable falsetto in my teens/early twenties, but I can't get anywhere near those highs anymore.
