Hey all! I guess you all know the feeling: You listen to this great CoB song and just have to sing along. The same thing goes for alot of other bans aswell: Kalmah, Norther, Wintersun etc. These kind bands where the singer does not growl but make the voice sound very raspy.
So my question is, how do you get this "harsh sound" when singing? Is it a special technique? Does it always hurt or does the throat get used to it?

This is not the first thread like this. I'm not a singer at all, but I did sing Hate Me and Needled in a karaoke bar once  was cool, you know, air guitar solos and all, I felt like I was Alexi for some minutes in my life :loco: Pal said I did well tho :puke:

Anyway, I've heard this was very hard for Alexi at the start, but he learnt a technique and now he can sing for hours straight without wearing up his throat. I also think sparing the throat is part reason why he sings different now and then.
