So huh, I heard there's a new Iced Earth album on the shelves

Horror Show was one of IE's strongest efforts. G-Trilogy was alright. This new one has a couple of highlights.

Jon needs a lead guitarist/vocalist with an identity. As much as I love rhythm guitar, and as great as he can be at it, it just doesn't cut it when there's no memorable melody.

That's unfair Davie, D&W has some of the best use of fast pounding, relentless triplet/tremolo power chord combos I've ever heard. Hansi's ingenuity with how to approach vocal melodies helped Jon develop some decent lead. Barlow had the same effect sometimes, although with Horror Show the mood of all the songs was kind of already set, so he had a big help there (which is why I think that album worked out so well).

Glad to see I'm not the only one to think that Horror Show was great.

Solid songs on it.

I still consider Burnt Offerings to be their best - I love the bitter and dark atmosphere on it. And yeah, Owens isn't Matt, but I have to say the new one is a very good effort. A lot of daring stuff on it, at least in my opinion. It's not their best album, but it's a new shining light of hope after that steaming turd people called The Glorious Burden.
