So I got an iPod today....

ex-chick of mine had a 2001 Civic, and you know even with an econobox engine (106hp 1.7L i think), that thing was an absolute blast to drive. not a performance car by any means, but it was just fun to drive.

the expense of cars doesn't bother me, without a girlfriend. that's why i bought my WRX like 2 weeks after breaking up with the girl mentioned above, i could finally afford it. :loco:

Yes, I will be leasing, and I'd like to get my payments down from the $400/month I'm at now (it is an 18k/year lease though). I'll be dropping to 15k/year.

I love that new Civic, it's got a serious engine in it for once, gets ridic. gas mileage, and is not expensive at all. I'm still so torn as to what to get though.

the Civic is nice, but it has this bad association with the ricer crowd that I cannot shake from its image ...

haha @ how relative costs are. gugs doesnt blink at a $400 a month payment. spending that much on a depreciating liability would kill me. id rather ride a bike. everyone has different priorities though.

Well, it's either $400/month to lease, or $600/month to buy...

Remember the part about me driving for a living?

yeah, i blow over $600 a month on my car including insurance. woof.
hahaha, yeah, i was gonna ask about that. how can you afford that but not a house?
dorians car payments = $0
cars owned by dorian = 2

You can't write a lease off, lol

Sure, I get paid back for mileage, parking & tolls, but that's it (though if you drive enough, you can just about cover the cost of a monthly payment).

Write-offs.

Jerry: Do you even know what a write-off is?
Kramer: No, but they do. And they're the ones writing it off.

chek with your accountat dude ... my salesman friend has been writing off anything sales related from his taxes ... including dry cleaning his suits ... if you are using your private car for work ... yes you can ...

holy FUCK. you guys are nuts.
are you homeowners?

haha ... homeowner in NY is a $3-$4K mortgage a month deal (and that is just the mortgage) ... $600 for a car is chump change

meh, writing off means itemizing. i dont see how itemizing shit like a car payment can possibly work out. but im not an accountant.

Well I didn't say I wasn't claiming my car usage... ;)

But legally, you cannot.

homeowner?! me?!? i'm in SoCal man, you have to make 6 figures to own a house out here, and that puts you in a shit area. i'm not exaggerating, trust me. if i sold my car and went back to driving a 20 year old Toyota (i have zero problems with doing this, got me through college) i could afford a mortgage but there is NO WAY i'm putting up over 50% of my income toward a mortgage. flat out not worth it to me.

haha, interesting. thats a bit steep. mines around $1300. houses are a fantastic investment. cars are among the worst possible. the only thing i can think of as being a worse investment would be something illegal.
