So I got an iPod today....

GM owns: Saab, Subaru, Saturn, and all the obvious GM brands

Ford owns: Mazda, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and all the obvious Ford/Lincoln/Mercury brands.

Chrysler owns: Mercedes, a piece of Mitsubishi, and all the obvious Chrysler/Dodge brands.

VW/Audi/Porsche

Nissan/Infiniti

Toyota/Lexus

Honda/Acura

BMW

Any more questions? ;)

yeah, i read up on the charger. the 3 cars i mentioned all share the same platform. and yeah, recent benzes were among the least reliable cars of all time.
ive never been impressed with benz though. save for their diesel shit, which ruled. my grandparents still putter around in their '83 turbodiesel with 342387898539484758374 miles on it.

the sad thing is that Chrysler/Dodge has better sales and reliability then Mercedes now ... The new Charger I hears is actually built on an E Class chassis ... scary shit.

MB lost so much of their exclusive clout over the last 5 years ...

I'm going to disagree with that statement. M-B has made a HUGE comeback in the past few years, with both inspired aesthetic design and quality automaking. The E-Class, the C-Class and the sportier SLK & CLK are all outstanding.

yeah, a comeback only in the sense they were making the worst cars on the road (except for fucking land rover). they only had one direction to go and it is up

you forgot Lambo and Bugatti in the VW/Audi/Porsche field. ;)

also GM does NOT own all of Subaru, just 20%. majority shareholder is still Fuji Heavy Industries, thank goat.

are you on the Mallrats crackpipe again? MB has been purely "marketing" driven in the last 5 years ... they sliced that segment pie in so many pieces that they confused the shit out of the customer.

the new E Class has so many electricla bugs that my friend bought the last style 03 E because of it.

"style" wise they might have some nice cars ... but engineering wise ... that are taking massive steps backwards ...

the CLS ... is just a chopped E with a sleek hood line.

i don't like Benz. they come in poopoo automatics almost exclusively. sure are purdy though. and that V12 twin-turbo is just staggering. i think that thing would kill me quicker than a Suzuki bike.

oh yeah and electronic brakes in most Benzenanssz now WTF!?!?? i don't want an $0.08 fuse causing me to careen off a cliff thankyouverymuch.

actually i heard they hava a full-hydraulic backup system anyhow, so what's the point?

That's my biggest problem with them, since I will only drive manual. The C-Class now has a 6-speed manual available though. All a moot point, since I simply can't afford a Mercedes.

I'm looking at:
- VW Passat
- Saab 9-2x
- Honda Accord
- Honda Civic
- Acura TSX
- Mazda 6

remember when BMW bought land rover? and then promplty dumped them? that was good times.

Benzes also have the handling of a Ford Taurus ... they could never get that shit right ... drove so many of them ... and they all feel disconnected from the road.

i'd be driving a Honda Accord if i didn't have my WRX. or maybe an Acura TSX or ummmm... what's the bigger one with the V6 and 6-speed? RL? that one is a bit pricey for me, but i still dig it.

my friend has an RSX and it's sweeeeeeeeeeet but too impractical for my music equipment.

anyone else besides me wish they didnt have to deal with cars at all? what a fucking huge expense.

Yes, I will be leasing, and I'd like to get my payments down from the $400/month I'm at now (it is an 18k/year lease though). I'll be dropping to 15k/year.

I love that new Civic, it's got a serious engine in it for once, gets ridic. gas mileage, and is not expensive at all. I'm still so torn as to what to get though.
