So...the age old question.......

Don't you mean SABBATH ?! :headbang:

Ok, Dio era Sabbath...:headbang:

let's break it down a bit:

best frontman - this is damned close, as Bruce is amazing, but let's face it: Rob is the living, breathing embodiment of all that is metal. He OWNS a stage as no others before or since. Although Bruce is a gift to the metal world, Rob dominates it.

best guitar team: again, it's nearly impossible to choose, but this time, the nod goes to Maiden, and that's due mainly to Adrian Smith. SImply stated, I think his sense of melody is superb and elevates him to a superior level.

most classic albums: Priest has released records since '74, Maiden since '80, so Priest has a larger catalog to choose from.
IMO, JP's absolute classics are: Sad Wings, Stained Class, Killing Machine, Unleashed, British Steele, Screaming, Defenders & Painkiller. That's 8.
IMO, Maiden's absolute classics are: the first 8 (debut thru 7th Son including LAD). That's 8, also. Edge: tie

best recent material: Without question, Maiden. DOD and BNW are friggin great records, and with time, will probably achieve classic status. AOR was mediocre, at best. Edge: Maiden

damn, this is hard.......if I was forced to choose, I'd give the slightest edge to Maiden. But then there are times when I'm in a "Priest kick" and consider them the single greatest band ever......this is impossible!

Priest all the way for me. Strangely enough, I only own one Maiden album and that is only because it was given to me. They just don't do much for me.

I'm officialy :OMG:

P.S. I hope it's not a Blaze era album :heh: (JD is going to kick my nuts for this)

Maiden VS Priest

Both rule, but I choose Maiden

Accept !!!

Not a fair answer, but that is my choice.

I enjoy both Maiden and Priest. It is a metal sin not to really.

I consider them equal, but less than Accept because:

Maiden gives you the technical diversity few early bands had from every instrument (vocals ARE an instrument.) Priest had great vocals and guitar, but a rather dry rythm section. Accept offered the technical diversity from all members but also had great "power."

Priest had a sound with power chords and tone from guitars that was like a Panzer attack. It was mechanized almost (but in a good way.) Maiden had power, but was often too caught up in intricate guitar work to appreciate power riffs involving simple power chords. Accept gave the listeners a blitzkrieg of power with the best guitar tone ever created, but also as said above, gave the technical diversity.

I give Maiden and Priest a tie and give the nudge to Accept.

tough question it really is I'm probaly more on the Maiden side because I had heard Maiden first and loved them and I had heard Priest later I sort of like them the same but song like Phantom of the Opera and 2 minutges to midnight I take Maiden

Priest all the way for me, even though Maiden rule.
Priest have a more diversified discography, they broke down more boundaries in heavy metal history, and Halford is the epitome of the metal frontman.

I prefer Maiden over Priest when it comes to lyrics and (obviously) bass playing, but I relate myself much more to Priest vocals, guitar playing, general (darker) atmosphere and diversity.

Maiden, hands down, by a long shot, not even close. Hate to use the word, but Priest always had more "filler" on their albums, IMO. I love Priest too, but except for Defenders, I can't sit through too many other Priest albums nowadays....

Two out of the three greatest metal bands of all time (Black Sabbath being the other of course)...tough choice but I choose Maiden.

Maiden... an easy choice really. I like Priest and all, but they've always been inconsistent and IMO only have three true classics (Screaming, Defenders and Painkiller). Maiden on the other hand could do no wrong in the 80s.

And nothing beats Maiden live!:kickass: :worship:

Ouch, that discounts all the 70's Priest.
