So...the age old question.......

Funny....if Priest's career ended with "Unleashed" in 1979, I'd probably rate them as the single all-time greatest metal band. Although the 80s have some bright spots for the band, overall, I think their work in that decade doesn't come close to their 70s epics.

Too much filler and nonsense in the 80s....Point of Entry (handful of decent tracks), Defenders (awful production, some filler), Turbo (3 good tracks, the rest is godawful), Ram It Down (3 good tracks, the rest is generic throw-away metal).

70's Priest = Dated. Sorry.:)
Its cool, it is all opinions after all. I guess maybe it depends when you got into JP. Those of my age most probably discovered Priest in the 70's. I think 'Sad Wigs of Destiny' is probably my favorite Priest album, but also love 'Painkiller'.

We kill people for less than that in my neighborhood :p

I must be the most dated guy on the galaxy since everytime I hear 70's Priest it just :Smokin:

Dude 70s Priest RULES!! "Sad Wings of Destiny", "Sin After Sin", "Stained Class", "Killing Machine", "Unleashed In The East" are some of the best metal albums ever!! In My Humble Opinion of course...

Judas Priest over Maiden, but only because of "Stained Class". I love both bands :)

Hey, calling something dated on an old school forum isn't that bad of an insult, right?

Seriously, 70s Priest never clicked with me. It's probably mainly the production and overall 70s feel I have a problem with. The first thing that comes to mind when listening is something like "man, this is old!" and I really can't get past that.

When you give those songs a 2000 production like on Halford's Live Insurrection it's a whole different story. That's the way I want my Judas Priest, thank you.

You're getting predictable. :heh: Where does Vanden Plas fit in? :)

"Getting" predictable my ass. You couldn't be much more different stylistically as far as metal is concerned than Accept and Vanden Plas, but both bands consistantly hand my ass to me on a plate anytime I listen to them. You and this forum knows damned well that I think Accept created bread and Vanden Plas created sliced bread.
I am not "per se" a German metal fan, as I don't care where a band is from as long as I like them, but so far in my life my top two fave bands are German. Other bands need to eat more fucking schnitzel or something.

See? There's the similarity. :p Stylistically I know they're different but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to prompt you into another Accept/VP are gods here on earth. :heh:

 I'm thinkin' it's the streudel.

Gah.. both are great.

Priest is amazing and is a veteran... but I have to choose Maiden. Maiden is just faster and the music is just a bit better IMO.

However, Priest has made more memorable classics...

Gah... I don't want to choose now :S
