I'd say 98' till '02 since I like those albums best. I like AYDY a lot too though but I don't really like Blooddrunk.

I'd be interested to know what Janne thinks of the poll if he sees it. The fundamental line is pretty clear.

Poll Results:

Get back to '98-'02 style 43.18%
Combine old and new style 31.82%
Do something new 13.64%
Stay as they are 11.36%
Get even heavier 0%

well mixing the old and new style ends up doing something new. I'll just go for a combination.

P.S.: Humanity discovered Mayan's 2012 prediction to be true. Yes, In 2012, Bodom will be more popular than Oprah Windfrey!

None of them, especially Alexi, would probably give a fuck.

But hey, Alexi said in that recent interview with SoB, that they feel that AYDY is their weakest album. That considered, chances are the next album
wouldn't be closer to that sound.

Hmm, Bodom has had nice changes from album to album, so I think more new ideas should be good. Just because getting back to the old style ain't gonna happen. Unless they decide to write pop-music (lol), new stuff is welcome - they're at a stage where a lot of bands degrade into releasing multiple copycat albums where all the songs sound the same and nobody really cares for.

Anything new should be great.
Blooddrunk was sumthing new & still has great tracks & mad riffage.
I will be looking forward to anything they release. :kickass:

GET MORE THRASHIER YET MORE MELODEATH YET KEEP THE KEYBOARDS.

Actually.. .just copy Dark Tranquillity ahahhaha :headbang:

Oh and yeah.. DO A NOCTURNUS COVER! (Y)

I mean.. Nocturnus had keyboards.. they were death metal.. it could work!!!

And do a new thing with blast beats.. like.. as they blast.. get Wirmen to BASH THE FUCK OUT OF HIS KEYS. YEAH BRUTAL!

*calms down* Damn Lucozade.

^ A Nocturnus cover would be good. They should also do a Belphegor cover =)

I doubt they would do covers like that, since they always say that covering metal songs is boring to them, since its not much different than what they already do. At least compared to, say, Billy Idol or Poison.

Chances are the next album will either bring together a bunch of different elements from all the albums, or lean more in the catchy riff and melody direction, since that what Alexi says he likes a lot more than super complexity. I wouldn't mind a little more vocal variation, personally.

I say go back to the old style. We have enough heavy bands out there, and Bodom were great because they were so different from everyone else.

Good point.

I really want them to go back to the old style, but I couldn't think of a way to say it that didn't just sound like what everyone always says about the new style being lame.

God I really love their neoclassical stuff :( I wish they'd go back, but from the henkka interview he says numerous times that the rest of the band wouldn't want to play the older songs live, so I seriously doubt they'd want to play that kind of stuff again on a new record :(

I are sad :'(

I think it's lame and unoriginal for any band to intentionally go back to a style of music they played before. It's been done before, and is no longer unique in the way that it was when they did it the first time. Not to mention, doing something like for that kind of reason circumvents the one thing every musician should strive for, which is create the best music they can, and the music that just comes from them and they want to make.

Doing something just to be different is as stupid as doing something just to fit in.

What?? It's been done before and is no longer unique? First off, no music is really unique anymore... pretty much everything in some form has been done. Secondly, no one's asking them to make copies of their old songs, we're asking them to make new songs in the neo-classical old style they had. Thirdly, if you think their current style is more unique and hasn't been done before, you are seriously detached from the metal world. Heavy thrash metal bands are a dime a dozen, whereas you'd be really hard pressed to find another band that sounds like bodom did on their first two (three) albums.

^I thought we'd already gone past there, but seeming as we still haven't, please tell me just one fucking band that sounds like nowadays Bodom do. And by that I mean the same thrashy-whatever riffs together with the crazy ass keyboards and nice soloing (not neoclassical anymore, but still nice) and melodies like Roope plays everywhere.

And please, if you want me to read your whole post don't say LOG.

Don't take this as personal or as an attack, but I'm just so tired of seeing people go ''ah Bodom don't sound original everybody does that nowadays'' but still unable to name a single band that plays similar style.

I wouldn't mind having six Silent Night -style songs and three slow songs :D

 That may be a lil bit boring or may get you tired of SNBN hehe, and I think that 1 slow song per album is ok with Bodom. I don't know what I want from them, I just know that I want them to make something new

:lol::lol: Between all the mess, I think I kinda agree with you, except on the copy DT thing hehe.

Nah :p I'd be happy if they bring blastbeats back, don't care if they do something new with them  that little blastbeat at the start of Hellhounds was pretty sweet, but i'd like to hear more blastbeats like on Something Wild and Hatebreeder.
