Solid State Head!!!!

lol i have played mesa boogie the reason i dislike tube amps is they always have a hum to them when not playing and i cant stand that sound the only tube amp id play is an orange and until i can afford one solid state marshalls are for me

im sure it isnt my pickups i only use best of the best and shielding deff isnt an issue i use shielded mic wire to wire my guitars the pickups i use are a dimmarzio super distortion and a seymour duncan invader a gibson dirty finger and dimarzio evolutions and the 2 stock strat single coils i havent bothered to change them they sound fine

i dunno but cranked on my marshall ss they dont hum at all on a tube they pop like no other

i suppose it must have to do with your surroundings or other elements in your rig then, because from a technical standpoint, the situation should be reversed.

i dunno but ive never really liked tube i like the in your face sound of adding distortion on a Solid state and stuff like that so i dunno if i do buy a tube it will be an orange like i said but im 19 years old and have invested way to much in guitars for now im working on going to school and opening my own recording studio once my studio is up i will get my orange

All amps hum to a degree when you slam the input with distortion/OD pedals, high output PU's, and espectially single coil fenders (stay away from the florescent lights and dimmer switches, and computer monitors big time!!!)
this is why any guitarist with half a brain uses gates and HUSH systems...

well i have no problems on SS amps only tube... its not actually the hum its the hiss of the tubes i cant stand

nah the marshall has a huge cooling fan tubes have a gritty sound when there is no sound going through them when theres sound theys ound fine i personally cant stand the sound of the amp sitting there

Audiophiles (people who spend megabucks on stereo equipment) use tube amps just like guitarists do. They use them because of clarity. They do not make a "gritty" sound. If your amp makes that sound, you have a bad tube or transformer etc. Marshall might not be as popular as it once was, but I can tell you, if you have a Marshall tube head that sounds bad, it needs repair. They are still one of the best amplifiers money can buy.
