Yea I have some awesome news for you guys, at least I don't think you know it already.... (exept the people from the chat maybe)

SIR RUSSEL IS GONNA DO A SOLO ALBUM!!!! :yell::yell::yell:

He said so on the Star One chat, this summer he is writing songs and stuff....

:OMG: :D

I wonder what it will be like? I bet it's still in the heavier vain but probably not as technical as SymX.

I'm actually kind of surprised at this. I would think that he gets enough of a creative outlet within SyX to satisfy him. I sure hope he doesn't go soft and make an album of sappy love songs or something. Although I'm sure they would be well written, I don't really want to see that happen. :)

I can tell already. Hearing this solo album will turn me into an official Russell Allen fanboy.

What if Arjen plays on it. . .
:OMG:

My guess it will be more laid back, even bluesier. It might not even be a 'metal' album, more like the Neal Morse solo stuff, or Chris Cornell's album Euphoria Morning. Who knows? we might even see him in the Charts yet! 'don't you know that you are a shooting star....don't you know...'

I would actually like it if Russ does some Bluesy Metal as his voice has that tone in it.
But this is definately great news!

It'd be great if Russell did a none-metal album. I mean, we've heard enough of that. Especially with his background, I'd love to hear what else he's got in the bag. :D

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i dun care what the feck he sings in..as long as tha man belts em out im happy n in love with his voice...just stay away from the N'Sync Russ..:p jkin

My guess is that it will be Led Zep -like, older heavy metal sound with a bluesy edge to it. Whatever it may be, I'm up for it. Go Russ!!!!!
OUR American Idol , how 'bout it ??!! :)

Do you have any plans of releasing a solo album in the near future?

Yes, I'm also working on a solo album now, doing a side project myself. The only thing I know about it that it's not gonna be like Symphony X. Haha. I've just written a few songs and I'm still looking for players. I've been talking with record companies and Thomas here at InsideOut and it's gonna get done. It's just that right now Symphony X is my priority, my band and I wanna do everything to concentrate on it right now. But I've done a few songs and thinking just after this American tour I'll have the time to sit down and write a few more songs. It's gonna be pretty like a power four piece most of it and no keyboards, maybe for a track or two I'll have a piano player come in.

But are you thinking about metal or blues or something?

Yes, it's more of a blues rock sort of a thing. It'll have the heavier sound here and there, but it won't be dominantly one particular style. I'd cover a lot of different bases, but nothing in the progressive world. If I do it'll be for only one song maybe.

That's what I mean. I copied this from an interview with Russell of some months ago.
