Someone reco me some Morningrise-type shit

It would be helpful to get Akerfeldt's recs here. He has a ridiculous record collection (and, one would assume, knowledge of bands)

Every time I've checked out one of the 70s classics he's namedropped (Comus, Culpeper's Orchard, etc etc - too drunk to remember at the moment), they have been pretty goddamn worthy.

I just found a really funny post but don't know how to link it here.
Carry on.

LMAO @ "have" as opposed to half. WTF?!?!

Didn't read the whole thread, but come on....

GWYNBLEIDD

Get the damn EP from The End for $10 (or buy from the band here).

Sfarog's got 5 kids to feed. [/totalrecall]

ND was a bad reco, as is GwynStefanald

Neither sound like Morningrise.

I think that's been acknowledged though. As I indicated, basically "nothing" sounds like Morningrise (though I'll give the tracks you uploaded a shot tonight for sure).

Basically, with ND, I wouldn't recommended them due to a "Morningrise" sound; but I simply find that there are a lot of crossover fans of both bands and I hear a lot of comparisons to the "smooth" growling styles of both Akerfeldt and Paul so I was just reaching for something else dorian might like 'tis all.

I didn't reco Gwynbleidd in this thread, but would certainly reco it on a general basis.

Jason

I mean, I listen to Gwynbleidd, and watch them live....and I can't think of any other band other than old Opeth standing before me. That said, there is a Dissection riff somewhere on that EP which I spoke to Sfarog about and he was like "damn!".

Listen to Asgaut Ali. The first track posted fits the bill.

Jason, I didn't mean to offend you brutha. ND is a cool band. :)

Alright, the Tuesday Night Delight is going to bed,

Don't listen to him, the man doesnt know what he's talking about. Besides he was drunk, I remember.
