so called "POST ROCK"

Bumpin' this thread because I finally got around to downloading some of this stuff last night.

Evpatoria Report - Golevka
GY!BE - F#A#infinity
Mono - Walking Cloud And Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered And The Sun Shined
A Silver Mt. Zion - He Has Left Us Alone but Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corner of Our Rooms

I've only heard the Mono so far, but really enjoyable. I was definitely in the right mood to listen to it last night. Looking forward to the rest of the reco's in this thread!

I finally downloaded Evpatoria Report last night after all these years, after hearing a song or two back in the day and never bothering to find a download. It does sound pretty great. Other than that my only exposure to post rock was a couple listens to a Red Sparrowes album and the copy of F#A#infinity I have on vinyl that I can't listen to until I get the record player fixed.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Mogwai yet. These Scots have been prominent since 1995. Take Me Somewhere Nice:

This.

Mogwai kick my arse. I've only got Happy Music for Happy People and The Hawk is Howling but they're both on damn-near weekly rotation and have been for close to 18 months.

The rest of A Silver Mt Zion's discography is also really, really good. Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upwards may be one of my favourite albums of all time. This Is Our Punk Rock also rules. Motherfucking Starsnostars...

Anyone listen to Magyar Posse's "We Will Carry You Over the Mountains"? I have it downloaded but I never listen to it, I think it sounded alright once or twice.

I don't really like Mono's albums all that much, but live they are one of the most intense and astonishing band I've ever seen. Just massive beyond anything I've ever experienced.
