Someone reco me some Morningrise-type shit

DENIAL!

Besides, you should take it as a compliment if anything.

I know where you're coming from, but no musician will ever take comparisons as compliments. Just the way things are. Noone is interested in an Opeth, Metallica or In Flames clone when you already have the real deal.

Many bands started with their first album showing more influences and then progressing and finding their own sound. I can only hope that with Lure of the Land and Awakening we have made that step forward.

yeah, I can see that but it's interesting because this aspect of music discussion will never end. Any time anybody ever starts talking about a band, the first response would be: "who do they sound like?".

I think it's ok to say that if one likes Opeth, one should also check out Gwynbleidd, Novembers Doom, or Novembre. None are clones per se but all have a similar progressive style. Definitely in the same ball park at least, no?

Let me check.... Nope, still in Denial. Opeth who? :)

EDIT: I'm just kidding. Of course we'd love for all Opeth fans to become Gwynbleidd fans. I could almost quit my job then.

You should try to open for Opeth the next time they play NYC, or even the tri-state. I definitley think you would win the majority of that crowd over.

I"ll supply your beer for 3 months if you figure out a way that would make that happen.,. somehow i doubt opeth itself (or their management) would be into the idea.

of course at this stage, opeth doesnt have to rely on other bands on the bill to draw the crowd so they could care less who opens, but it wouldnt be a silver bullet to success either. Its all about these steps. smaller, bigger, smaller again.. we need another HC2!! ;)

That would be like a 6 pack for me.

Fair enough. The fact that you're not even signed is a small injustice on the metal landscape! You should maybe send the EP to Akerfeldt with a few Turkish Lire stuffed in the envelope.

OK, well how about opening for Agalloch when they next play the tri-state? That would be pretty cool.

I don't have a problem playing with or opening up for anyone as long as the event is attended by a decent number of people who could possibly be into what we do, and as long as we're given an opportunity to present our music in what we'd consider "quality" fashion.

As to being signed or unsigned - you have to earn it. And to become signed, first you have to send out promos to labels. We'll see what happens after we're done recording this one. I would hope that Nostalgia comes out good enough to be considered a proper release. And this time we'll send out promos.
