Someone said this to me about Dragonforce...

I used to be a longtime defender of this band's songwriting...until I heard "Fury of the Storm" and "Prepare for War" back to back. Anybody notice some slight similarities in the intros?

Formula is one thing, but...I mean damn.

One thing I can definately commend them on is writing 7 minute songs at with such a fast tempo...probably 3 times as many measures of writing go into efforts like that as any other generic power metal anthem.

Look.

Dragonforce is not faster than everybody else on the scene. In the power metal realm alone, there are plenty of bands that can play with their quickness. The only difference is that the other bands know when to quit. The party just never seems to end for Dragonforce. Every song by these guys could easily be cut by three minutes or more. Unfortunately, you're still faced with the most cliche lyrics and weak-sauce songwriting. Though I've heard worse power metal, I've also heard about fifty gazillion power metal bands that are much more deserving of their publicity and their big label signing.

Stay metal. Never rust.
