Im new to the UMF and i was checking some forums of my fav bands and i came across this and thought wtf.Man you cant honestly be serious about that comment. WTF, HOW ARE DT BORING ?, what are you fucking remedial ?.The reason why people listen to DT is because they are in fact not boring, their is always something going on and the fact that they are PROGRESSIVE METAL/HARD ROCK GODFARTHERS doesnt mean anything to you?, if u dnt like progressive music because its boring, then what the fuck are you doing on a progressive metal band forum.Seriously did u think at all about this comment, DT have released 13 albums and another one coming and each album is different and awsome, how many albums have DF released, nothing compared to DT, listen to Train of Thought and i think u will get ur balls ripped off and you tell me if its catchy enough, Mr teen sensation.

p.s i voted for SA, cause as my fellow forumers refer to it Dragoncock are shit

WTF!

You will get banned dude. lol

That argument was between me and Stormster, and it wasn't even an argument, more of a clash of opinions. :p

Nah man! lol. I'm not that violent.

Simple clash of opinions man, I don't dislike Stormster for anything he said and I doubt he dislikes me lol, he is a nice guy. I just don't like his views and he doesn't like mine haha..

I have a feeling I know who Loomis_Fan01 is aswell. Tomorrow I have some researching to do! lol

Stormster made me hate Blind Guardian.......................

Dream Theater to me is boring BECAUSE from what i have heard, there is no catchy stuff to it. Its long, drawn out, and theres not alot there for me to enjoy. I like Transcending because they dont sound like Dream Theater to me, they dont sound all over the place, they sound structured. I like a band for their final sound, not how good they are as musicians, i could not give a flying fuck for that. And i have heard train of thought, MANY times over, and that was the last DT album i ever listened to, it pretty much killed DT as a possible band for me. It was alright, but nothing to grab on to or look forward to in their music.

I just don't see how you can't see structure in a DT song man. Just because a song is long doesn't mean it doesn't have a structure, lol.

I can even give you a structure in chart form for A Change of Seasons, or Octavarium.

But I won't do that, I respect your opinion mate, even though I don't agree with it. lol

:loco:

Its just seems all over the place man. Trust me ferret has been trying to get me into them, i like bits and pieces. Like Panic Attack, its a good song, but theres about 10 seconds of awesomeness in that song, for me anyway, and the rest is just cool. But i need more than "just cool". Hammerfall might be simple and technically boring, but they got a chorus, a mad tune, every 30 seconds. To me it sounds like DT just play 100 different tunes in a song and never repeat them, thats why i say they arent catchy. And i dont know where htis Labrie stuff came from, but i never said i disliked his vocals, in fact i like them, its just theres nothing to keep me entertained in their music. Like i said each to their own, i didnt wanna start an argument, and just cause Dragonforce are shitty musicians apparently doesn't mean their music isnt good. Im a power metal fan, not a prog fan, i just like TM and wish them all the best, thats why im on here. Prog for me is too long and drawn out. I've tried getting into symphony x with not much luck either, i guess its not my thing.

Well seeing as you've explained what you mean by catchy I understand you more now, but you mean you look for a chorus in a song, not a "catchy bit." A catchy bit is subjective and can come in many many forms, from a riff to a melody (on any instrument) to a chorus itself. You just mean a chorus.

Dream Theater have them, in every song. But their songs have movements, much like classical/orchestral pieces have, maybe that's why it's not your cup of tea.

Movements/parts FTW!

i'd say it's more about the level of creativity, rather than technicality, i mean for example, someone that hasn't been playing the keyboard for long, but can come up with some really weird/different sounds and little tunes on some electronics or something for atmospheric effect

and where the hell did this skill barrier come from? And COME ON! You can't call Heman Li a shit musician! That's just impossible

It came up because Stormster mentioned something about Dragoncock being shitty musicians, then you commented on that, then I commented on you commenting on that. LOL :p

I don't think I said they're shit musicians once, but they definitely aren't anything special IMO. The drummer is good though.

And time is not a factor in determining whether someone is a shit musician or not, you're right. I think being a good, great, awesome or shit musician is all subjective but I do think generally people can be shit if they are technically and creatively crap, compared to someone who owns at both the technical and creative sides. I won't give any examples, because that's all subjective and they would be my opinion only.
