Maybe his talking about his physical body? You know, because it's everchanging, yet it is always solid, untl you die. Hence the "was" solid. Because you're dead now. So it changes. Everchanging. Then we become dust. Everchanging. Then we end up in a tree or back to the Earth or something. Then we grow as something else. Everchanging.

I think that's a good explanation of what it could mean... .
