For songs I'd put Master of Puppets, people made it sound like the greatest song ever.

And for bands I'd put The Strokes, lots of people said they were an amazing band and they weren't as good as I'd thought they'd be.

*adding Strokes to bands that should die list*

but back on topic...Job for a Cowboy. Everyone hyped them up to be something awesome and it's pure shit if you ask me.
I'm really fucking curious on HOW they are headining over the almighty Gojira this tour:zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie::zombie:

Yeah same. I searched top death metal bands on myspace. JFAC was at the top so I thought "they must be awesome" but they sucked.

I don't know what it is exactly...they sounded brutal at first and I thought they had potential but NO.
The whole metalcore/techdeath genre is way oversaturated. All the shit is sounding the same.

I started out bored by the guitar but...

As soon as I heard their corpse-shooting-shit-out-its-mouth vocals I immediately pressed the back button.

Another song on my list would be People of The Sun by Rage Against The Machine. Someone said it was "their best song" so I thought "hm better than Killing In The Name or Freedom? I gotta hear this!" But it was good, just far from their best. In my opinion.

Oh yeah and Modest Mouse, my friend said they were really good but they weren't as great as I thought they'd be.

And it is starting to sound the same. I hate it when genres decay. The vocals in a lot of popular bands sound the same too, FOB RJA and P!ATD all sound the same, they probably have the same voice engineer.

Arctic Monkeys. I wouldn't say it was that way for me but probably was to every Classic Rock-Head. They all condemn the Arctic Monkeys because these stupid MTV kids say they're the next Beatles. So when Classic Rock-Heads listen to them they're comparing them to the Beatles.

^ People tend to exxagerate a lot, thats why I never listen to anyone if they say a band is the best band ever. I see for myself.

Good band.

^ Yeah, they're very creative, I can't get enough of this tune.

I dont follow any new bands except for a handfull of progressive metal bands but back in my day with endless time for music:

Kiss, I thought "oh this is cool" for the first and second time through an album, by the third I realized they were chezzy as hell
Foghat - thought they were gonna be a great hardrock band but they went for the sheep
Mott the Hoople - some people loved them, I never got it
To some extent and I get blasphemy from everyone over this but to some extent Black Sabbath, I never liked Ozzys voice much but I got bored with their sound, groove and Ozzys attention whoring stage and back stage antics. I wanted some boogie in my rock and some more progressive elements, so I swayed toward Zep, Rush and later on Kansas
I agree about "Death Metal" and all forms of thrash that have no great singer, and just thrash away. thats why I like prog. Opeth is the only exception to the "Death" genre but they are probably argueably not truely typical Death metal.
Someone said Maiden, they are and always have been a pick and choose your songs band to me but I still really like alot of their songs. At least they were origional and talented.

Most of the bands that end up on Ozzfest and comparable tours these days.

"Oh that might be cool...um...nope."

Breaking Benjamin, excuse me if I didnt spell that right. When I heard the song "So Cold" I thought this is cool and kinda unique I might like these guys, then I bought the CD and didnt find another song on it that really stood out or was anything like that song.

Thats why I never buy albums of bands on 98 Rock (the Rock station here). Because each band has about one good song they play on the station. There are some songs that catch my ear, so I go on the bands myspace but I would be stupid to buy their albums, I don't really buy albums unless I hear anything good about it really.

I quite like Breaking Benjamin. For a song like So Cold, try "Diary of Jane". I am honestly addicted to all of BBs songs...
