Which song do you think shows off best the talents of each member?
Mike:
well, all of 'em, but I think his best ones would be Deliverance (great clean, great growls, kickass solo), and SPD (his best sounding growls and probably their best solo).
Peter:
Deliverance again, as it has probably my favourite solo by him.
Also White Cluster, as he has a big part to play in the awesome solo, similarly with AFJ.
Martin:
Deliverance again - probably his fastest and most technical drumming.
The Leper Affinity - some good fast beats.
Wreath - I like the part where he plays with his hands in the clean interlude.
Bass Player:

Firstly the bass player is called MARTIN MENDEZ, and he has some amazing bass lines, his best being 'To Rid the Disease' I think. And Peter on the live version on 'Hope Leaves'. The others are good on everything.

Lopez - April, all of Damnation & Deliverance, Blackwater Park, all of Still Life
Mikael - everywhere
Peter - everywhere but especially on Deliverance and Orchid
Sanchez - Deliverance

This isn't what you're asking, but I'm going to go ahead and post a song where they all shine: Wreath. Evil lyrics, nice basslines, my favorite of Peter's solos, and very tight drumming (plus bongos).

Mendez has lots of nice work on BWP and Damnation. Godhead's Lament and Face of Melinda are good too, but I can barely hear him on most of Still Life so I can't even say. And on Deliverance, he's just doubling the guitars for most of the album.

Mikael - particularly When, A fair judgement, serenity painted death, moonlapse vertigo.

Peter - White cluster, Orchid, morningrise, a fair judgement

Lopez - By the pain i see in others, wreath, april, the moor

Mendez - Deliverance, a fair judgment, face of melinda

Mikael- absolutely everything. I like his solo in "A Fair Judgment" a lot, as well as his vocals, but he's just as awesome in everything else.

Peter- everything. just everything.

Lopez- Also everything. Though I'd say his shining moments are on Deliverance, Windowpane, April Ethereal, and Wreath. The drum fills he does to transition from one part to the next on "April Ethereal" are fucking brilliant and incredibly tasteful.

Mendez- He adds a lot to every song as well. I especially love his basslines on "The Drapery Falls" and "To Rid the Disease" though.

All in all, I'd say every Opeth member shines on every song.

yeah it is rather funky in bits but during the heavier parts its quite difficult to tell whats going on

Lopez - Forest of October
Bass Player - BRI
Mike - ....eh he pretty much sucks and ruins every song they make him sing on.
Peter - Weakness (Lamentations DVD) totally awesome. and EHAVY!

mike: 1. vocals - april etherael, deliverance and to rid the disease 2. guitar - dunno, blackwater solo...just too many parts

peter: i like his solo in deliverance

bass: windowpane, the drapery falls (the intro riff alone)
and i care for his bass-playing...he's awesome...

lopez: leper affinty, deliverance, the amen corner

Mike - Under The Weeping Moon, I think it shows Mike's artistic vision clearly.
Peter - Deliverance, great solo. Forest of October - Great solo
Mendez - Moonlapse Vertigo, listen to the basslines in the midpart of this song.
Lopez - Wreath, some amazing syncopated drumming with normal symbal work.
Per - Sorry, I have to hear GR first, I'm sure he'll impress me somehow.
