Songs With Badass Lyrics + Delivery

Amon Amarth has its moments

Valhalla awaits me
-
Blood gushes from the wound
The cut is wide and deep
Right before I turn around
He falls to his knees

A clear song rings in the blades
When steel meets hardened steel
I hear the sound of wood that breaks
A sword cut through my shield

I drop the shield and grab my axe
A weapon in each fist
The first blow makes the helmet crack
The axe cut to the teeth

I rip the axe from the head
covered in blood and brains
Leave the body lying dead
Ready to strike again

My sword cuts through clothes and skin
Like a hot knife cuts through snow
I smile as the bastard screams
when I twist my sword

Sword in my hand
Axe on my side
Valhall awaits me
Soon I will Die

And.....

Cry of the Blackbirds
-
Raise your swords up high
See the black birds fly
Let them hear your rage
Show no fear

Attack!

JR Hayes is a great lyricist.

Another good one:
I'm searching for the old spirit of war
With my rough hands and sharp knife
I need something to cut into so that my God can see me again

- 'A Season in the Sky', Neurosis

...and another:
The will to power
Ascension manifest
That which is above
Is as that which is below
Thy will be done
Thy kingdom come
On earth as it is in heaven
So mote it be

- 'Locust Star', Neurosis

These lyrics are about you at the very same time you watch the video wich is kinda cool. I like Haake's lyrics, they are very poetic while at the same time being understandable and making a point. "Kneel to shields of glass" sounds so cool and is what the world actually does.

Novembre - Iridescence ... 4:16 - 4:40

"But there's always a little sign of someone meant to take good care of your heart. "

After listening all the way up to that mark, that delivery just makes the song 1000x better.

I tried to find another song of theres, but it's not on youtube damnit.

Scar Symmetry - Prism and Gate ... 3:04 - 3:36

"This being feeds within now
To be born, be alive
Feed inside
Its presence goes beyond life
Fate will follow the mind
I am the one within now
I'm the transforming tiiiiiiiiide"

The last line is just awesome!

My Dying Bride - The Blood, the Wine, the Roses ... 7:50 - End

"Torment me you fucking
bastard!
I'll seek you once i rise
Look behind. I will
slay your worthless
blackend soul."

After a soul-crushing song... you think it's over then fuck, Aaron breaks out the death vocals.

Chorus of Katatonia's 'Tonight's Music', 'Teargas', 'Saw You Drown', 'Evidence', and 'Sweet Nurse'. Actually, just about every Katatonia chorus. And also the part in 'Funeral Wedding' off of "For Funerals To Come" (Same death serves all/Visions of what will be/Dancing the walls/The scent of silver through those halls). And every freaking line throughout "Dance of December Souls". Katatonia rules.

All of 'Angelica' on Anathema's "Eternity".

Novembers Doom-'Not The Strong' (In my dreams I can fly away/And look back through tears of pain)

The clip from 'Masque of the Red Death' with Vincent Price used in Theatre of Tragedy's "...And When He Falleth". Vincent Price rules.

Celtic Frost-'Procreation of the Wicked'...first line pwns. (You are blind!)

And oddly enough, Skid Row's 'Wasted Time'. At the end (and you'll see the sickly hands of time, rewrite your final rhyme, and end a memory...). When Bach says 'sickly' he gets quite intense about it.

Also anything Layne Stayley ever sang. Like in I Stay Away.

Behemoth - XUL

@ 1:30

all stirs within
tis chaos in and above me
in the world ov nether-nether
"I" infinite space is all-consuming

behold! I am unending!
the conciousness ov "I" shines universally
unbound by wretched dogma
I spew my will forth!
hell is democracy!

Behemoth - Mysterium Coniunctionis (Hermanubis)

@2:55(end of song)

...and I understand the Burden
of this journey:
I know, I will
I dare, and keep silence

Like Krow said, cry of the blackbirds by amon amarth is one of the most fist pumping chills down your spine songs that exists

Axes grind and maces clash as wounded fighters faaaaaall... to the ground,
Severed limbs and fatal woundings bloody corpses laaaaaay... all around,
The smell of death and burning flesh the battle weary fight, to the end
The Saxons have been overpowered victims of the mighty, Norsemeeeeeeeen!

You'd better scatter and run the baaaaattle's lost and not won
You'd better get away to fiiight aaaanother daay
Invaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaders!

Best vocal/lyrical combination ever.

Amon Amarth - Asator
SON OF ODEN - THUNDER GOD - MASTER OF WAR - ASATOR! and then the solo.
Badass.
Also The Sound of Eight Hooves is full of awesome moments like

Down from the sky a warlord rides
Like fire his one eye glows
And just before the preacher dies
He knows his god is false

The Last With Pagan Blood

We are few but strong in will
The last with pagan blood
We fought the world with burning steel
Now we sit in Hall of Gods

As Long As The Raven Flies

Doubting not I give my blood
So I may enter hall up high
The sky belongs to Asagods
As long as the raven flies

Then there's the part at the end of the solo in Without Fear where they're holding this note and Johan shouts "WITHOUT FEAR I DIE" and the they come back in.

Also in Masters of War after the first chorus there's a break and then Johan screams "FIRE!" and this badass riff comes in.

And then the end of Slaves Shall Serve by Behemoth is another obvious one.

Dark Tranquility - The Gallery has more of this than any other album I can think of...

Punish My Heaven -
"If I had wings, would I be forgiving?
If I had horns
Would there be flames to shy my smile?"

Edenspring -
"Drench logic, drench judgement! Awake! Every sense is new"

The Dividing Line -
"The storm shall sweep the weak of heart
And tear your castles down
Crush the very foundations
On which your faith is based
Torn across the dividing line"

The Gallery -
"Because everything burns
The final concept
Is all but a thought away"

etc

The chorus of "The Murder" by The Absence is amazing.
"TOTAL! ANNIHILATION! WE ARE YOUR MASTERS NOW!"

I'll think of more tomorrow.

Amon Amarth's "With Oden On Our Side"

"No retreat
No remorse
Victory
Will be ours
Blood on steel
Sacrifice
Victory
Will be ours"

since we've arguably veered away from metal a bit anyway with kyuss (good pick, though, mort), allow me to contribute to my own thread

Don't ask me what my name is, stupid bitch I'm famous!

And one Ozzman probably would appreciate

Forgive and forget, fuck no, I'm talkin 'bout a revolution!

Well, if we're mentioning Kyuss, one of my favourites has to be from Writhe:

"Your smile alone outweighs the miles,
And your kiss makes it worth the ride"

Or the hilarity of Thong Song:

"My hair is....................real long
No brains......................or braun
No shoes.......................just thongs
I hate.........................slow songs"

As for CoC, I like the clean/scream constrast in Man Or Ash:

"These are primitive,
TIMES"

Bloodbath `earthrot.

We are all lying
We are all dying
Earthrotttttttttttt
Apocalyptic nightmare
Majestic unstoppable conspiracy

Hu-man earth-rot uhhh

Earthrot

Mikael Åkerfeldt the true badass.

Somone should go through every celtic frost album and put all the UGH,etc.. into three minutes putting it on Youtube.com. that would be awesome
