Thrash: anger and rhythm

Speed: anger and speed

Progressive Metal: technical

Melodic Death: melody and anger

Hair: sex, drugs, and rock and roll

Nu: teen angst

Death = brutal is kinda wrong. Take for example Obituary. Great slow death, nice riffs but not brutal or anything. On the other hand, Sinister \m/ YEAH!!! now THAT's brutal.
