You know V.V.V.V.V. is the one who created that, right?

I'm joking. It'd probably grow on me if I gave it enough listens.

Basically it's like Abruptum without all the pseudo-evil stigma and instead it's just me turning knobs, hitting things, screaming, and then sitting down and mixing it all.

That's a live pic of Ichorous from July 22nd...I wish more people here would get into noise...there are a few who are, though...

Yet you have no trouble bashing fans of mainstream music for calling metal unlistenable?

EXACTLY! That's silly...saying noise is talentless, silly, whatever is just like some idiot pop music fanatic saying all death metal is noise and screaming with no coherency. Noise may not be musically coherent, but you still sound stupid as hell trashing it.

I already work? I do noise as a hobby and sometimes make a few dollars. I release music on international labels in short run tapes or cdrs. Do you think I really care how you feel about my body of work? Go record some crappy garage stuff that never gets out to anyone.

I'm not familiar with much harsh noise apart from Merzbow and Wolf Eyes but I'm interested in the tracks you posted from Ichorous, who are other good artists that might offer a 'way in' to the style?

Thank you kindly.

My favorite harsh noise artists include (but are obviously not limited to) Sickness, The Cherry Point, Knurl, and Ahlzagailzehguh...

http://groundfault.net/gf020.htm

Two samples from Sickness' full length album I Have Become The Disease That Made Me are available there...Chris does a different style of harsh noise from TCP, etc. though...he does cut-up/glitch harsh noise with lots of layers. He was a joy to see live and a really cool guy who personally recommended me some stuff to check out.

For more mp3s of noise/ambient/drone, etc. I'll let you browse around the Ground Fault Recordings release list . They're categorized into series...I is quiet, II is medium, and III is loud. All of the stuff in III is ridiculously harsh noise but you'll notice a lot of different styles. Once you familiarize yourself with the different styles of noise, you begin to be able to develop your own opinion of it.

With Ichorous, I currently operate in a dynamic direction, at once recording material with elements of cut-up/looping similar to Sickness' work and with references to "wall" style noise such as The Cherry Point. Thanks for the interest. If you use SLSK, you can download Ichorous material (as well as some other noise stuff, but my library of experimental stuff is really limited because I don't rip stuff very often) from me (Reqviem).

this noise stuff appeals to me somehow.

That's exactly how this started for me; a passing interest. Develop it by listening to some different stuff (noise is a wiiiiide world) and maybe you'll come to even *GASP* enjoy it!!

It's really, really not. I take what I do very seriously. I have no formal musical training, though. I've released stuff and played live, though. It's not as stupid as it looks or sounds...it's not just random crap, I do a lot of editing. It takes a lot less effort than most highly-structured and immaculately-produced music, but that doesn't means I put less than my all into it.

Wow, it sounds like bullshit when you first hear it, but when you actually absorb it, it's actually somewhat interesting. That sounds like it'd be fun to make. :kickass:

Edit: I've actually experimented with noise myself, but never really got into it. I also didn't know that it was an accepted form of music at that point.

A more close-up shot of what I use, effect-wise:
