An english teacher I had two semesters ago at the college I go to said that greenday was metal, and she said that Maiden was death
I myself heard some lady refer to The Offspring as "death metal".
I had some goddamned redneck in my sixth period guitar class complain that everything the metalheads in the class do is "nothing but awful noise" and that country, and rap is the only good music.

I was counseling camp this past week, and some girl kept bothering me to tell her what music I listen to since all I had said is that I didn't listen to music. I in turn asked her what she liked to listen to and she told me death metal. I then asked her if she had any preferences, to which she replied, "Well, I listen to alot of local acts that my friends are in, but over all I'd have to say Korn." ("Death Metal" is the new southern California trend by the way, since all the emo kids got tired of cutting themselves.)

I'm from Malta (Samll island in the mediterranean) and this is my first posting in metalcrypt.
Here its quite differet from the U.S.A.
People's idea of metal here is satanic (the country is 90% Christian Catholic) in general and corpse paints (thanks alot Marilyn Manson and MTV shite)
By the way the music here is mostly Euro Dance, House and Techno bullshit and its sort of the capital of this shit in Europe due to the masses that go to these parties, like in Ibiza (And i thought Black Metal was scary)

A good friend of mine keeps telling me that "anything that's not Iron Maiden isn't metal"...
Judas Priest is too harsh for him, Iced Earth too double bass and rythm guitars, Virgin Steele - doesn't like the vocals, Bathory - only accepts Twilight of the Gods as a "true" viking metal album, Amon Amarth - "I don't like death metal"..... Well, fuck off.
He thinks most of the stuff I listen to is trendy and fancy and mainstream and.... and.....
And I am the one who "converted" the guy to this stuff! Damn the day I made him listen Warrior's Prayer/Blood of the Kings by Manowar...
