I'd honestly listen to As I Whine Crying over Avenged Sevenfold. My wife loves As I Lie Dying, and to be honest, I liked them the first time I heard them. After listening to all of their albums, however, I must say that their drum sound is atrocious and they repeat the same 4 or 5 riffs over and over.
All that aside, A7X is just completely intolerable. The vocals literally give me a migraine, and the guitars sound like a sad parody of Dokken and Helloween.

i like a7x, but not as i lay dying. but saying either of their guitarists are anything above decent or average just doesnt work.

try all that remains. their vocalist actually goes beyond just the hardcore stuff with his vocals incorporating death and black elements but they still have the candy coated clean vocals which usually turn some people off but they are well done. they also have a really good guitar team that doesnt do the breakdown thing to death and plays some excellent leads. i dont usually hype metalcore bands but as i just discovered this band i find that they are probably the best in their played out genre and they could become even better.
