1. Mike Romeo is a god.
2. Russell Allen is a god.
3. Mike Lepond is a god.
4. Mike Pinella is a god.
5. Jason Rullo is a god.
6. They are heavy as shit.
7. Even though they are often heavy, they still retain an exceptional sense of melody.
8. They are cool guys! (I met 4/5 of them on the BG tour)
9. They are BADASS live.
10. They display excellent musicianship, which I demand from any band I listen to.

I chose metal because I am more into straight ahead metal bands than I am straight ahead prog bands. That isnt to say that I dont like prog, but I generally prefer metal.

Seems I was a bit misunderstood on my poll, the idea was which side you liked the most, not why precisely you liked them. It is obvius that I can't love a band just because it's metal or progressive, because on each genre there are good and bad bands.
I think Soulburner's answer is a bit redundant (not native speaking english, maybe the word I want). It is obvious you like them because you like them... The same for prismatic sphere and BastrdDrmr.

DITTO! I love how they are fukin heavy as hell but have don't have screaming shit vocals and have really sweet sounding harmonies and melodys! But other than that, basically all of the above!
