Symphony X: Dream Theater rip off? Maybe but the still kick ass!

RIP vinyl? you lucky bastard!!

jup... it's awesome :D

the riffing in RIP doesnt sound like Symphony X to me, SX riffing sounds like old school pantera riffing

just a few bits here and there... i'm not on my computer, os i can't play their stuff, so i have no examples... but as soon as i can, i'll post some references... the verse riff from FALLEN is one of them if i remember rightly...

Well, Menza's drumming never impressed me much

Yeah?? His work on RIP is possibly my favourite drumming, especially the start of Take No Prisoners... CTE is also pretty decent drumming, especially in Ashes in your mouth...

I personally really dont care for Dream Theater at all, Ive heard a few albums, and I just cant stand those incoherent prog solos, especially the keyboards. I really am not a huge prog fan, and Dream Theater seems to be an over the top prog band, which is even worse. I've also noticed that the only way Dream Theater can write song that makes sense, is when they slow it way down, and one does not hear any exceptional musicianship. Well that is what I get when I listen to them.

Sorry, Trapped, I misstated that. Menza's drumming is fine, it just isn't anything that really wows me. He's a solid drummer; much better than any others Megadeth has had. But when I think of great drummers, I think of Reinert, Jarzombek, Mickelson, Christy, Hoglan, and Hall (Greg Hall from Sacred Reich).
