System Of A Down?

How can people seriously like this stuff. When I said it was boring, I meant it. The "uniqueness" is like the "uniqueness" of a kid with ADHD. That article linked to puts it best, a thin veneer of creativity over a huge block of monotony. Ultimatly, THeir songs have no endurance. they all sound the same, despite the "originality". I guess what I am trying to get at is depth. SOAD lack depth. And they don't have insane levels of creativity to make up for it, like the dillinger escape plan. For everyone who has listened to this album for more then a month, tell me, when was the last time you discovered something new in the music?

I don't listen to em much but do collect their stuff their new (not realeased yet album) Toxicity 2 i think i the link for it is http://ugpirates.com/mus-SOAD2.htm
or just go to http://ugpirates.com/music.htm and look for it
LMAO!!! That's Steal This Album! you fucking idiot!!! No offence intended with that (I call most people a fucking idiot at one stage or another), but before you go off spruiking about a new, underground release album...check your record shop. Apart from that, good find on the free music :D

And Tyler, who cares if their music gets a bit repeditive? Name one band whos music doesn't after 5 albums? Not having a go at you, but it seems a bit stupid arguing that their music should always be original. Look at Opeth. Yes, they are getting predictable these days. But hell-with 8 prog albums under their belt, they're allowed to be! I still like GR, even though I could see where the songs were going. Do I make a fair enough point?

They have about three good songs. The rest is just generic bullshit in a political wrapper.

Yeah, I have all 8 of Opeth's albums. (And have been into them for 2 years now.)

As for SOAD, like I said, I still think they suck. BUT, I liked Toxicity very much. All the other albums are crap to me.

Yeh i agree
Toxicity was a pretty sweet album but this newer stuff of theirs I cant really get into unfortunately

Do all bands have to have depth? Is it a prerequisite? I love both SOAD and Dillinger Escape Plan. I understand your argument, but its flaw is that you are assuming that all music needs to be deep and meaningful to be enjoyable. Different moods require different music however.

It's the same thing that's going on with Opeth - they've been around for years too and now all the sudden they're everyone's "favorite" band ... well I've been into them both for a few years so I'm not in that category LOL :p

It's cool that people are getting into these bands , but the problem is that most of the n00bs are only familiar with the new stuff (Mezmerize , Hypnotize , Ghost Reveries) ... the older albums are great too - so GO BUY THEM DAMMIT !!! :hotjump:

They've been popular as hell since the Chop Suey single.

Too much guitarist singing I don't like album Mezmerize. For me song "war" is preety cool and got energy. What about rest of albums. Not bad but not for longer listening.

I like them. I'll listen to them if I'm looking for something fun and catchy.

I really don't understand why people call them nu-metal. I certainly don't see that. Nu-metal fans may like them but SOAD itself is not nu-metal.

I bought the Mezmirize and Hypnotize CD when they came out... I'm not so much regretting the purpose as questioning my motives. They are an all-right band at best, and their fun to listen to once in a while, but it's impossible to take them serious.

Because of shit bands like this with their supposed politically charged lyrics we are raising a generation of hippie faggots. They are basically as worthless as Korn. If both bands were to be killed on stage I wouldnt shed one tear.

I don't mind Korn. I don't realy like them for their lyrical writing ability... more cause they sound good at times.
too bad all those times were 10 years ago...I actually don't mind some Korn, they had a couple good songs on some of their earlier albums, but I can't stand any of the last few albums...

i have to say i only really started getting into SOAD at my work, i work in a pub/resturant in the kitchen and the kitchen manager when working always gets a say of what gets played in the kitchen - his favourite band, bar Slayer is SOAD , so naturally , listening to it enough times ive now got used to them and think they are alright. i have to admit i do sing the lyrics occasionally but there are some good political messages there, which is wierd as i hate politics lol
