the Australian Idol thread

Also, Casey and Chanel should be in your list and Anthony shouldnt, he did well last night but his other performances havent been that good...

I can not stand Chanel. She can piss off back to New Zealand and take her smarmy 'look at me everyone, I act like a 3 year old because some people find that cute and I can only sing songs that are a bit cheeky so that the actual performance hides the fact that I'm not a great singer' attitude with her

Anthony was the one that did the bouncey song wasnt he? If it was he did really well last night but thats the only time ive been impressed with him.

I thought Chanel had a really strong voice, maybe she is a bit one dimensional in the songs she chooses, but you are WAY better off having the judges tell you that you are great but need to get out of your comfort zone every week than you are risking it on something you are no good at and getting crucified. Daniel should just stick to songs that suit him for the same reason.

As for who has the best actual voice, I think Anthony is one of the best, perhaps second only to Daniel.

Chanel does have a good voice, she isn't hiding behind her personality, but it is starting to get a bit old a bit fast. She needs to change it up a bit in coming weeks I think. I noticed that dragon tattoo too Spawny (I think it was a dragon?), maybe she does like black metal afterall.

Yes, Amali was very hot. :headbang:

I thought it was a yin/yang symbol, but it was so quick I couldnt be sure... If it was a dragon, well, I think that would settle it, wouldnt you? :worship:

Does anyone know how to get tickets for the Sunday shows? I looked on the website but couldnt find any info.

I really want to go to see what they actually sound like live. Alot of the time the judges will say how good/crap the performance was and I will totally disagree with them. It might be because they are seeingit live and we are seeing it on TV?

Anyway, if tix arnt too expensive, i am going to go this year for sure.

If I was in Sydney I would consider it too. No idea about info or prices or anything though.

I think last week the band and the backing vocals drowned some of them out a bit, but perhaps it wasn't so bad for those in the audience, so it would be interesting seeing if it is much/any different.

What was with Dicko's comment about appealing to geeks who like board games who work in IT? What's wrong with geeks who like board games who work in IT? Some of the greatest people EVER are geeks who like board games and work in IT.

And why wouldn't you want a group of people with traditionally a high disposable income and collector-obsessive personalilties who are going to buy ever single thing you ever put out rather than giggly teenagers who'll only ever buy your first single and then throw it out the window when the next hot thing comes along as your fan-base? Hmmm?

I was in Cairns from the 3rd til the 12th or something like that and I got to see the first Australian Idol performance show, so this post may seem a little dated, but...

Dan shouldn't have made it into the final 12... hell, I rekkon I have a better voice than him. Bloody boring.

Most of the contestants have annoying voices, especially the chicks... that Anthony guy's voice grated on me within 10 seconds.

My pick before I even heard anyone was Courtney cos he had a girls name... but it actually turns out his voice was by far the best, so I hope he wins.

with Daniel a close second... he impressed me that he went for range and not something comfortable.

By the way, I just read this on Courtney's bio thing:

What is your favourite song to sing?
"Wuthering Heights", Kate Bush.

now THAT is a song I would kill to hear him sing - if he pulled it off well.

Every time Dan turned up on TV I couldn't remember who he was. Even on tonight's show I was suprised that he was a contestant and had to wait 'till they said his name before I figured out who he was. In fact, I can't even remember one song he sang. He was just forgetable in every way.
