Angel Witch - first album is a genuine classic, they had the potential to be where Maiden is today, but...

Hammerfall - stuck on repeat mode, that being said, I have friends who love them dearly. So to each their own.

Ayreon - almost too complex to listen to at times, though when this project is on, boy is it ever on.

Falconer - only heard the first album, which I liked, but overall I am saturated with this style of power metal.

King Diamond - opinion mixed. He's got some great concepts and can put together a band for sure, but I am only halfway there with his vocals. I suspect one day something about them will click with me and I'll love them.

Nevermore - I've heard some stuff by them that I really, really like ("Dreaming Neon Black"), but other things that I was pretty lukewarm towards. They do some great Bauhaus covers, though.

Limp Bizkit - The first album was somewhat amusing, but the joke wore thin quickly

Bruce Dickinson - brilliant. His past two albums are better than anything Iron Maiden has done since "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son." "Tyranny of Souls" is what a classicist heavy metal album should sound like in the year 2005.

Saxon - I really need to hear more to their work

Iron Maiden - my favorite band.

you said maiden was your favorite? man am i the ONLY ones who loves NPFTD and FOTD? they are awesome albums. yes, maybe not as good, but still awesome....especially FOTD. and have you listened to Brave New World or Dance Of Death? (albums, not songs). too many people stopped with their NPFTD and/or FOTD let-down...even though i think they rule, and are really missing out with DOD and BNW!!

NPFTD had some good songs but felt like it was on autopilot. In retrospect, FOTD almost seemed like a trial run for Dickinson's solo career. Some of the songs seemed like good ideas but weren't completely developed, but they seem to tackle some of the kind of material you find on Dickinson's solo albums. BNW and DOD were both good, but I really felt that after "Chemical Wedding," Dickinson was stepping back to something that just seemed a little too comfortable.

really you didnt like somewhere in time?? man i loved that album, especially Alexander The Great, Stranger In A Strange land. those 2 are my favorites fromt he album. i am not suprised you think NPFTD/FOTD albums are shit...unless you are completely die hard maiden fan most people arent interested in them. i am though, and love those albums....FOTD more than NPFTD though, by far. normally i tell people who say that to listen to BNW and DOD cos normally they stopped after those 2 albums....but you heard BNW (which rules) and im guessing youve heard dance of death? well, if you havent defenetly check it out. ive listened to it more than BNW.

On HammerFall: I heard every one of their albums, beginning to end, and I hate their old stuff even more than their newer stuff. There is slight progression in their stuff, but I just think they're an extremely boring band with ridiculously weak lyrics.
I will check out Falconer one of these days, now that I have time to check out new stuff. I won't promise I like it though
On Maiden: No, I don't like 'Somewhere In Time' at all. 'Wasted Years' is of course great, as is 'Caught Somewhere In Time'. 'Heaven Can Wait' is a song that excels in stupidity (just like 'Can I Play With Madness' an album later) and most of the longer songs I consider plain boring. It's probably just experimenting what they did greatly on 'Seventh Son' (which is my favorite Maiden album). 'Fear Of The Dark' is okay, nothing great though. 'Dance Of Death' is a strange album. On one side, it has some of the best songs Maiden has made in a LONG time ('Journeyman' and 'Rainmaker' in particular), but on the other hand, the vocals are very uninspired and a lot of songs sound alike. Actually, I think that 'Virtual XI' and 'Brave New World' are the best post 1990 Maiden albums.
