The Best Death Metal Band

alright jsut to further clear up a few things. I was simply defending myself not making a point when i said that in flames was death metal, cuz someone said they weren't, and every single website i go to has them classified as death metal. The real difference i think between in flames and some of the other bands you have mentioned is the toning on the guitar and the tone of vocals, not a difference in song writing styles.

And to the other guy who said The Jester Race is in flames best album, thats exactly what i said in my first post, are you kidding me? Fucking read you dumb blind ass bitch. You guys fucking piss me off.

And when i said the thing about 'wearing black' i was referring to the other guy who said "the only important thing in a song is how pissed off it sounds"

And i think Metallica IS the best songwriting band ever, its just personal preference, but i think they are the best ever. Just because their songs aren't as hard to play on guitar as songs by the band Yes,for example, doesnt mean it isn't as good. Some of the most simple songs can be more pleasing to the ear.

oh yea, and after you bitch me out some more and tell me a band thats better, can you include a song or two that is especially good by the band so i can try them out, i havent' heard of a few of the bands u guys named, but a lot of bands only have a fwe good songs so i don't want to have to listen to 100 songs just to find the one thats good, especially when it takes a few listens to tell if you like a song or not.

Check out Dark Tranquility. Melodic Death metal that's pretty cool. Sounds like In Flames, so if you like In Flames I think you would like them. Try it.

Other than that, Amon Amarth is a great band!

k, thanks last 2 posters, i have heard a lot of both dark tranquillity and children of bodom already, like them both, but not close to the same degree as i like in flames. And if your read this again, please mention songs by the other bands u named, their best songs.

thanks

and if u haven't heard me say this yet, listen to "When" by Opeth!

Mekane, visit the Mastifal page and download some MP3, specially "Destiny" and "In the entrails of the Apocalypse"... download them all, you lazy metalhead!!!!!!!!

Iniquity: http://www.iniquity.dk/

Konkhra: now the page is down, but you could find some mp3 in Kazaa... download them all too

Hey Mekane, sorry if I said something that insulted you....I didn't mean to...
but, the bands you were refering to are Melodic Death Metal Bands and by far not the best Death metal bands...

If you want Melodic DM try:

At The Gates, they propably "invented" this style

also:
Soilwork
Dark Tranquillity
Children Of Bodom
Arch Enemy
Hypocrisy

What, has nobody been listening to Hate Eternal's new stuff? And what about God Dethroned, and fucking Immortal? I find it very hard to believe anyone can decalare the death of great death metal 10 yrs ago.
In Flames, Dark Tranquility, COB, are what I listen to when I'm not listening to metal.

Death Metal is such a wide definition that a lot of things get into it....
But I agree that In Flames are incomparable to Death....
Yeah, megamich At The Gates are the thing in Melo Death....
Immortal are Black Metal. period. and they sucked in the end....

When was Immortal ever Death Metal??
I thought, they made Black Metal
I personally can't consider Son's of Northern Darkness as anything other than Death Metal, even though they are labled black.
Anyway, I guess I should have added Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth's later albums to that list of post '94-95 great death metal efforts.

Recommending Opeth and In Flames in this forum is rather pointless, I don't know anyone actually into metal that has no idea who those 2 bands are.

In Flames never were and aren't death metal. Opeth has some aspects of death metal in their sound, but definitely not pure death metal.

@Brainkisser: "Putting fluffy acoustic passages in the middle of mediocre chugging is dumb." is one of the most stupid things I've ever heard anyone say. You may not like Opeth and I don't care, but "mediocre chugging"? How big of a moron are you? You may be refering to the opening riff in "Master's Apprentices", but that is one riff of their plethora of riffs.

first of all, and i dont think anyone said this and if you did im sorry but i just wanted to add my 2 cents and dont feel like reading it all righ now, but its very pointless to try and introduce bands that are as popular and well known as in flames and opeth are. and you said you listen for the music not the words, well i feel you need good lyrics for the song to be complete, otherwise there is no true feeling, do what i do, if you dont listen for the words fuckin listen to some King crimson who has some of the best musicians you will ever here, i recomend indiscipline, thrak, and frame by frame, and for "death metal" i feel the the best musicians playing is nile, they are phenominal.
