I haven't had a go at this since I got my Palmer re-amp box.
There is a huge improvement over my old Radial X-Amp so I saw the thread pop up again so decided to run it again.
2 tracks of Triple Recto with 2 tracks of 6505 underneath.
Lead octaves is also rectifier.
TS808, Rectifier cab, sm57 and m201 placed with pink noise to ISA828.
tiny bit od f eq on the guitars with cuts at 3.5k and 300. No other eq or multiband.
With the Radial I needed to hit it at 0DBFS to get the right level.
The output was muddy and harsh.
I can hit the Palmer at -12DBFS and leave the volume on the Palmer at about 1 o'clock leaving loads of headroom.
It is much clearer and more dynamic.
It is possible the Radial was faulty from the start but I have heard other people have the same problems too.
Tried to rebalance the drum a bit, used mukltiband comp on the guitars, but stayed away from a limiter for the master.
used 4 different mics: a prodipe TT1, Electrovoice 468, MD421 and Sm57, for the four guitar tracks, all positions at excactly the same place, rouchly edge duskcap of teh G12T-75 in my 1960A.
Preamp was peavey rockmaster, poweramp was a Mesa 295, presence pot detached (mod).
Been lurking on this forum a few days now and this thread has forced me to make an account. I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and give Jeff a pat on the back for those goddamn sweaty DI's - Just amazing.
Sorry for bumpin, but just saw these DIs and decided to reamp through my dual Recto. I am not a fan of KSE, so I don't know the original tone, but here is how my amp sounds. Anyone wants to share opinion?
