darken must have overlooked the fact that the nazis invaded poland.
there isn't anything to get to excited about in graveland musically either. if you want cheesy, pretentious keys in the intros, horrible off-beat drumming and croaking that will make you cringe, you can't go wrong with the early graveland albums. the later ones (after immortal pride) are intended to be more epic like bathory's twilight of the gods, and if you are after that sound and still not annoyed by darken's croak, then these are not so bad. but i will take bathory over graveland any day if i am in the mood for that sort of thing (which tends to be rather rare).

Sounds like I can just avoid it altogether then.

I have heard very little criticism on the Graveland, not good nor bad. I wonder why. It's not like they are unknown or anything like that.

I like owning albums. Besides I bought an album from a murderer today anyway. Dissection first full-length. Eventually im maybe going to get a Burzum album too. Im definetly going to buy De Mysteriis though so I will soon add another one to the list.

And lets not forget Fausts little incident. Im listening to In The Nightside Eclipse right now.

Yeah .. look I'll put it this way (this is how I tend to work regarding the sensitivities of Black Metal "politics"):

I own just about the whole Burzum Discography. People ask me "why have you, an Indian/coloured guy, bought the albums of a racist?", to which I reply that his racism became an issue AFTER his imprisonment. Prior to that, imo, he was just a young guy who happened to make some damn good Black Metal and had propsects of being a very talented artist.

NSBM.org labels Burzum as being NSBM but in actual fact it is NOT. Burzum, at the end of the day is fucking "Lord of the Rings Black Metal". Seriously, thats what the lyrical content, band name and Varg's pseudonym is, its all ripped off from Tolkien's work. Inspect the booklets if you disagree.

Drudkh as well fit into this in a way, but while they are National Socialist, their music doesnt reflect this and instead concentrates topically on their country's and people's past. To me that is fine - always interested in other countries and history. Its educational.

Like Burzum, some of Drudkh's merchandise reflects their National Socialist beliefs, and this case I will avoid those (eg a Drudkh shirt was released a few years back which had "Art for White Intellecutal Elite" written on it. Quite disgusting, and certainly something I wont support by buying it.

Graveland on the other hand, as well as bands like Kroda, actively use National Socialism in the music itself, thus its basically white power music. I will not spend money on this trash. Besides, I dont really view "true" NSBM as Black Metal anyway, it's just a bunch of stupid idiots jumping on their own fashion bandwagon of "lets condemn other races". To me, NSBM and it's philosophy is not true to the original art of Black Metal, it is poser NS shit.

The whole thing is quite a complex issue really. Everyone has their own beliefs, but the only right/wrong I can see is that racism *(among other incorrect political issues) is fucked. Anything outside of that (in the context of what I wrote above) is open to questioning and inspection in order to arrive at a suitable "moral" judgement.

Since Burzum now consists of Varg sitting in prison making C-64 style tracks on a synth, what about Daudi Baulders and Hlidskjalf?

yeah burzum was never an nsbm band at all

also hes writing a new metal album im sure you know, which will be released eventually after he is free from prison

I dont know where you got that information from... he's never said that a new album is being written, only that once he is out he would *like* to make more Burzum music. There's nothing said by Vikernes about an album being currently written in any interview.

Do you have a link to this info?

if this is some Casio shit again, i don'r really give a fuck!

Disregard it dude.

One thing I've learned from the pages and pages of stuff I have read over at the official Burzum website, and that's never to believe anything anyone says about Burzum unless Vikernes said it himself first.

There is no album currently being written.

The only indication has been that he wants to do more Burzum after he gets out, and that it will be a continuation of the style in Filosofem.

That's the official word on it and the last known word on it. No interviews have been conducted since his recent move to Tromsø Prison.

PS: his parole request for June 2006 has been denied: "When Vikernes was convicted, it was possible to be released on parole after serving 12 years of a 21 year sentence, but this was later changed to 14 years by the Norwegian Parliament while he was in prison. In June 2006, Vikernes was denied parole by the Department of Criminal Justice for this reason, after having served 12 years of his sentence. His lawyer, John Christian Elden, is considering a lawsuit, viewing the policy change as a form of retroactive legislation."

Yeah, I don't think there's much hope for a new album:

I say this because I have been told that some people expect a lot from me when I am released. Well; don't expect anything. Unless You look for my books or albums You can expect to never hear from or about me again. I don't want anything to do with You or the thoroughly sick world You live in. Count me out. I am going home, to the Norwegian countryside, to the wilderness and fresh air, to a healthy farm-life and Mother Earth's embrace. You can have Your plagued urban brothel and Your sick mongrel Hell on Earth to Yourself. Varg "Lífþrasir" Vikernes
(24.02.2006)

Oh no, he will make an new album, thats definite, he's always stated that as an objective since his imprisonment. Its part of his plan, including that quote just above, for post-prison life.

Have a link to the US tour dates? On the band's web site are all Euro shows, and nothing on Ticketmaster.
