The Gaming Thread

i wanted to try the wii one just for motion controls

but i 100%'d the ps2 one, even got the handcannon from 5star every charecter/level in mercs

Niki's taste is games is as usual very similar to mine. Must be a Canadian thing. I may have asked this but did you ever play any of the Grandia games? I'm playing through the first one again right now... If it didn't have such awful voice acting in parts it'd be one of the best RPG's out there, it's battle system is pretty damn good.

Also noticed no Xenogears on your list. Blasphemy for anyone that likes playstation RPG's.

The more I hear about Dragon Age 2 the less interested I become, I better get to playing it before I lose all desire.

That's quite a resume. And I know Ogre Battle well. My friend and I went apeshit when we found a copy. Final Fantasy 12 was my favorite. It blew the rest out of the water imo. Castlevania LoS was amazing, I recently played through that on Phlegethon's recommendation. Timesplitters 2 was the shit, I don't hear that name enough. Gladius was good, so were the summoner games..though I'm not sure I could go back now. Starcraft (the original) is still my favorite multiplayer game of all time. Metro was the most underrated release on the next gen consoles, I loved it. Original Perfect Dark was the best shooter on n64. Mass Effect is amazing. Space Opera style. God Of War 2 is on my top ten list. 3 was quite good, just not as good as 2. Resident Evil is another franchise I'll never stop playing. When they get to ResEvil 25...I'll still be buying. Fire Emblem is getting reeeeeeeaaaaaal easy, but they're still great stories. Dead Space was fantastic. 2 was even better. And as much shit as I gave the first L4D, I did enjoy both titles. Grand Theft Auto will always be fun. Something about hitting prostitutes with cars just gives me a boner. Doom 3 scared the shit out of me (Jason, you know.) I still buy SNES titles when I find them cheap. Some of them are insanely pricey though. Earthbound is up to $150!

I'm stoked on the new Mortal Kombat release too. If you haven't seen anything, you should jump on Jewtoobs and check it out.

OMG WALL OF TEXT USE SOME SPACE BETWEEN FFS

lol *in other news* i got aliens vs predator off steam for 5$ today, hope the single player will be worth the 5$, looks like fun. figure i'll have time for it once exams are over, maybe play through all the metal gear solids again

AvP is a really fun multiplayer game imo, too bad it's like 5 ppl playing it :p

also, never finished silent hill 2 since someone ruined the ending for me :(, but it was a lot of fun once you got past the retarded controls , never been so scared/so low on ammo in my life

you've said this before, and i've answered before; there are several different endings, go play the fakken game, you're missing out

because they ran out of ideas just like nflaymmzz and then just tried to copycat all the action games out there and conspiracy and rise rise? :)

yes, they did get rid of the puzzles :(, that was sad cause they were fuckin hard

to answer your question, i never owned a PS1, however, they recently released vagrant story and xenogears on the playstation network, so i have both downloaded and am just waiting for exams to be over so i can play through them both.

as for grandia, i played through the.......4th or something, but i found it a little boring and never gave it another thought.
now i want to play 1 though, as ive played enough Jrpgs that terrible voice acting doesnt phase me anymore (star ocean for, all the dynasty warriors, tales of symphonia), so maybe ill track down a copy.

also, not sure if i ever mentioned this, but i use this site to order games, i find the shipping rates really cheap (like when the omegaorder was good), and its quick too, never waited more than 2 weeks, oh yeah......and they have FUCKING EVERY CONSOLE GAME EVER, including clayfighter sculpters cut...that blockbuster exclusive version of clayfighter 63 and 1/3

havent done that yet :D, all ive done is grab a guy and put my baldes through his back, make some crackling sounds at him and then finish him off

RE5 was fucking horrible. They ditched all survival horror elements for basically a 3rd person action game. I gave up after like 2 hours with it, shame the series I loved so much is going down the shitter. RE1 and 2 will always be in my top 10 games of all time.

I thought Resident Evil 4 was the absolute pinnacle of Playstation 2 gaming. The story was a fresh look on a tired franchise. I loved old Resident Evil, but it was going to wear itself out and that became evident with titles like Zero, and Survivor. Res5 wasn't as good, but it was terrific co op, and the story wasn't bad. That being said, the campaign was waaaaaaay too short.

^well put

and ok, aside from "not survival horror" RE5 was a great 3rd person shooter :p, on its own

i loved mario golf for gamecube, anyone else?

I was just having this conversation with xX M i A s M a week or so ago. I love survival horror, and it saddens me that RE has taken a departure from the genre if you will, however RE5 was still a really good game that I put a lot of time in, and enjoyed throughout.

I'm literally thrilled to see Code: Veronica re-released...because the original was so fucking hard. I eventually resigned myself to buying graphic novels based on the storyline just so I didn't have to struggle anymore.

 i only played survivor or outbreak or whatever, it was hard and god awful, fackin controls, the should remake them and make them playable

lol playing as alien, fuckin awesome, *puts tail through guys chest, even though hes already dead i still eat his face off*

All the AvP games are solid games. The very first might not stand test of time too well but it was a great game back in the day, and it had the most brutal and "interactive" dismemberment/hit detection of any game at the time(and even now it's way up there, they dropped the detail a lot in the sequels). I used to love using the spear gun to rip peoples arms off and pin them to walls. You could actualy remove each finger if you wanted, hell spurts of blood would fly out of the exact spot you shot and cover the ground. Brutal :)

AvP 2 has some really good moments and scares, plus the story-telling was really well done, so you felt like you were in the alien universe. Overall it had a really strong campaign for all three classes, but I liked the Marine on the best since it was so similar to Aliens.

The latest is actually my least favorite of the 3 but that's only because the Predator campaign didn't have much to offer and the Marine one started to feel repetitive.

Yeah AvP had massive potential in multiplayer, but every game for some reason never had a strong player-base. It's baffling to me honestly, because AvP has so much variety that it plays almost unique compared to any other shooter.

Also yes, finishing Silent Hill 2 should be mandatory. Great game
