The Horror Movie thread

i think is a unnecessary movie, it's the same movie, even if they say it was supposed to be pre-norwegian helicopter scene. It's a entertaining movie, but unnecessary.

Just finished watching The Thing 2011, and I must say... wow. I can't believe this just has 6.3 on IMDB, it was a fucking great movie! Seriously creeped me out more than the first/sequel, I'd probably go as far as to say it's a better movie.

i loved it. saw it in theatres and then went out and bought the original :D. definitely deserves more than that.
the normal "bawwwwwww no remake" fags tend to shit all over stuff like this, thats where i see the bad reviews coming from. they go into the movie wanting to hate it, and they find things to hate. as a slight rant, i hate how everyone on the internet thinks theyre a movie/music critic, myself included

i can agree with this. a sequel can never capture whatever originality the first had, but it was entertaining to relive the first movie.

i had forgotten how fucking terrifying the thing (old) is haha

Yeah it was a pretty damn good movie I agree.... Although it's definitely not better than the original. It does not have the degree of tension and mystery the first one had. The 1982 version was much more focused on not knowing who was real, the true antagonist was everyone. The Thing (2011) had a little bit of that but it was not a focal point, the focus was more on the Thing itself and the discovery (which was great, just not the same). And I did not find the creature to be quite as creepy either. Nothing tops the first time they revealed that twisted abomination in the dog kennel.

I absolutely loved how they tied the two movies together, everything from the axe in the wall and the burn hole where he used the flamethrower on the hand and the ice block itself. Not to mention the old music and chasing the dog right before final credits roll making the movies go directly into eachother. When you watch MacReady explore the Norwegian base after watching Thing 2011 you'd almost swear the 2011 was made first thanks to the accuracy and attention to detail. They were made to be watched back to back

It might be "unnecessary" by the purist sense of teh word but I love someone finally told the original story of how the Thing came to be. Honestly not knowing What teh fuck happened to the entire original camp seemed like a big gap that deserved to be filled, those people went through jsut as much shit as the American team and it was cool seeing how the ship and lifeform were discovered

:puke:

I'm sorry, that was so retarded it made me vomit :)

 fu :)

absolutely, it's essentially the same movie, but i liked it nevertheless :) i found some parts to be creepier than the "original" 1982 one

just saw "the cabin in the woods". i have to say, amazing, one of the best ive seen in a while. it is like they wrapped up every horror movie into one, but in the best way conceivable.

seriously, the trailers dont do it justice, it is brutal, hilarious, and has some nice boobs

I saw the trailer and thought it looked retarded, but I began to eat my words a couple days later when it started to get rave reviews everywhere.

The Japanese can do what they want because there is no censorship limitations to what they can do over there in film. So in Japan you'll find the sickest porn, the goriest movies, the grossest shit, gameshows where people can die..etc...
