he had a job making antennas.... how is that unethical towards civilians that died in the war? any american that has a job over there now is a "selfish bastard that is exploiting the war and the suffering?" if he wasn't over there making antennas, what fucking difference would it make? Iraq would have one less antenna making company i guess? making antennas is unrelated to the suffering of the war, you are trying to relate it.

As far as I can tell, Berg was there to make money that he wouldn't haven't been able to make in Iraq if our country wasn't flattening its infrastructure like a pancake.

He benefitted from the war, and he was told to leave. PLAIN English to me.

However, I'm interested to hear that there is a blanket of suspicion surrounding all of this.

i understand exactly. nick berg was doing a job that he wouldn't have been able to do if it wasn't for the war. but he didn't have anything to do with that, and his job did not make things worse for anyone, and thats all that matters. i don't see why he fits in to iofthestorm's category of "worst 'humans'"

It is not about the harm he does, it is that he EXPLOITS HUMANS THAT SUFFERED, and their country that still SUFFERS. Exploiting the suffering of others, is worst than make them suffer.
No american has a job there, except people from the Red Cross etc

"EXPLOITS HUMANS THAT SUFFERED".... it sounds MUCH worse written in words than what he was actually doing (a simple job, at the expense of no one).... you are using that to your advantage. you try to make it sound like what he is doing is harming all the people that have suffered in some way.... whatever.... i guess im truly sorry that i find no wrong in helping build antennas in Iraq.... i guess that makes me a real fucking asshole to your eyes! so be it....

With that being said, he WAS INDEED told to leave. He was offered a free plane ticket, chaparone, AND cash!! He still said no to that. While he was in jail, he couldn't wait to get out because of all the money he was missing out on. So, yes, he was a person highly driven on money and it ended up being his ultimate downfall. I still fail to see how it makes him one of the "worst humans." lol

As for our guys torturing the Iraqi prisoners, WHY DOES THE MAJORITY OF USA PUBLIC ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT WE SHIT ICE CREAM?????? News flash: We don't. The train of thought is terribly altered and swayed by the almighty media. Just like most other country's that will fuck with the enemy, we do too.

Also, as I've said before, I believe that this war is a godamn joke and this entire episode has further lowered my expectations for the American public. I am losing hope.

The most that ANYONE knows is that Nick Berg worked on REPAIRING communications towers. You don't know if he was doing this for Iraqi, for the U.S. Army, nothing. this is nothing comparable to vietnam other than it was misguided to ever be involved in either.

we let the french sucker us into taking over in VN after they got their ass handed to them at Dien Bien Phu...it was our idealism that trapped us, not economic interests.

Iraq on the other hand is a mix of the neocon ideology that we must do our utmost to impose our way of life on other cultures because it is allegedly superior, combined with economic self interest.

Bush is perilously close to losing a job he never deserved over this whole mess...unless Kerry really fucks up.
 
Interesting to bring up Kerry, lizard.

Considering how much Bush has FUBAR'd the running of this country over the past 12-18 months, WHY does Kerry not show substantial support in polls and such? That's a terrible sign for the "best" the Democratic party could throw out there. In all seriousness, Bush is most likely going to win again, just because Kerry is friggin' awful.

Exactly, it shouldn't even BE close! Disregarding the certain percentage that will vote party-line regardless of candidate, Kerry should still be doing much better in the eyes of the public right now. Part of the problem is that he has some very non-traditional Democratic stances on certain issues, like increasing government spending. Perhaps many people remember that Kerry was one of the hardline Democrats who voted "all in" for Iraq.

Now, that was either based on his believing Bush and the whole WMD fiasco - in which case, I would hope that anyone who wishes to be President of the United States would have the friggin' common sense to formulate his OWN opinion based on the facts and not just blindly trust what's been told to him - or he's just as much of a war zealot as Bush is. Either way, Kerry is a shady mothrafocker as well and I have seen ZERO evidence that we'll be in better shape with him as leader.

Has anyone?
