The "Mannaz" EP thread

a sample for the loyal fans :D. This is going to be the only sample until the EP comes out just because it's not a really long release or anything like that. sounds a little bit muddy now, but just turn it up and it clears out. this is to give you an idea of the EP's sound. quite different from the demo if you ask me!

"Through Hill and Hollow" (unmixed, no drums or vocals)

Wikipedia said:
*Mannaz or *Manwaz is the Proto-Germanic term for "man", in the gender-neutral sense of "person, human being" and is also the reconstructed name of the m-rune ᛗ.

The word developed into Old English man, mann "human being, person," (cf. also German Mann, Old Norse maðr, Gothic manna "man").

... while we're at it, what does Noltem mean?

I just looked that up right now... I'd been wondering since I first heard the title. Very nice choice, Max. I can't wait to have a copy of this in my hands and in my player.

Tell us about the meaning of the word “Noltem”, and why you chose it as a band name.

Noltem, to me, is the culmination of inspiration that I have gathered from nature. The word has no actual meaning; I created it. How it came to mind I am not exactly sure, but I knew immediately that it fit.

Yup.

I was playing Pokemon one day and misinterpreted the NoItem text in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. It looked like Noltem to me until I realized it stood for no item. So, in a sense, the band name is an homage to Pokemon.

^ The truth comes out!

More details later, but the 150 CD-R press of the EP has been upgraded to 1000 pro CDs and perhaps some vinyls down the road.

After reviewing the rough mix posted earlier in this thread, I have decided that I will definitely purchase this. After all, feeding you starving hippies is my greatest aspiration in life. Good job!

I'm very pleased to say that if all goes well, I and some others will be the ones involved in the pressing of this EP :kickass:
