the mix

how has opeth been sounding for these gigs...sure, there have been a lot of reviews...but i noticed quite a difference in the mix when i saw them in kansas...piercing trebles, and thin guitar sound. it sounded better after a few songs, because my ears became numb...

the last two times that i have seen opeth, their sound was much warmer...and not so loud. (which i preffered) the voicing of mike's lead tone was still intact...(warm, round) but, his piercing distortion was overwhelming at times.

what do you guys think/what have you heard?

Well, I saw them in Dallas and they sounded great, except for the couple of technical difficulites that Peter was having with his setup. In my opinion the sound of the band has a lot to do with the house PA system, ie the whole treble thing. Also in Dallas, there was a blown speaker above me and everytime the bass hit, it sounded like crap.
