The official and most atmospheric Children of Joonas thread

I'm listening to music transformed from planets' light radiation into soundwaves, and the weird videos you guys posted make me think you're not taking this seriously.

Well, the Lady Baby and the russian thing were kind of jokes yeah.

But the tree recording have a crazy feeling and strenght. It's the tree's story behind told through a piano. And the Rachmaninov masterpiece is surely not a joke. And if you think so then maybe you're not taking this seriously.

Pardon me Joonas, but no metal band can match in live the power and the feelings that a philarmonic orchestra gives. If you're so looking for atmosphere (and space radiation) then look into the classical repertory. Lot of great stuff in there. (AND MELODIES !!!)

Recently.. I have been listening to these guys. They have really great transitions from top-notch technical black/death to rock/pop with violin and back.. great stuff. I also feel a lot of "atmosphere" in it.

EDIT: Also check out their badass lead guitar player. He may not be the most technical player out there, but he is imho very creative in terms of writing his solos.

Some of the most epic metal stuff I know at 2:40 - 3:42

Something I listen to occasionally when I want to listen to epic or atmospheric stuff (Not necessarily this particular song, but similar stuff. This is just one of the better ones I know).

Unfortunately this "Pardon me Joonas, but no metal band can match in live the power and the feelings that a philharmonic orchestra gives." statement by Joker is true. Then again, certain sub-genres of metal are getting ever closer to having a full philharmonic orchestra play in their songs :D

Oh man, sure he is! Those hands made wonders on a piano that even Janne couldn't dream of. And Prokofiev is wonderful. Russian classical composer had this dramatic dimension that no one else could reach. I think you can particularly feel this tension in Shostakovich's 12th symphony (or any others actually but this is my favorite of his work haha).

You have no idea of how happy I am to hear some other metalhead can enjoy straight classical music. Everytime I used to talk with my friend about Rachmaninov, Grieg, Shostakovich, Balakirev, etc they would just laugh and consider me either as a hipster or a fake metalhead XD I guess they didn't really get how much metal have been inspired but those masterpieces.

Likewise man! I find classical music to be more metal than anything I've heard in the metal genre. I don't understand how somebody could not at least have an appreciation for how ridiculously complex it is.
