I've recently got quite into The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Would still agree that they are 'overrated' to some extent (in the OMG this band is great!!"£!"3123 way) but as far as being influential they shit all over most bands.

The Yardbirds
Cream
Blind Faith
Stones, Zeppelin, Floyd (of course)
The Doors
The Byrds

Beatles are just one good band in midst of a whole lot of great 60's bands.
