The Sports Thread

I just don't see it. I watched them all year, almost every game including the playoffs. I just never saw where they were that great of a team. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just can't see them being that good, especially after losing Torbor and Mitchell.

Well I've argued with people about this before. Teams have problems, they go through adversity all the time. Just because they hit low spots, or aren't playing to their potential doesn't mean they are bad or aren't worthy of what they earn. The Colts had the worst run defense in the league in 06. No one thought they had a chance in the playoffs, seeing as though a team has never won the Super Bowl with the worst ranked defense. But they did it. They certainly weren't the best regular season team I've ever seen. Far from the best Colts team I've ever seen too, however they went through their lows, and came out better from it. Same thing happened to the Giants, same thing happened to the Steelers, etc.

Doesn't matter if they get Vince Young receivers, he is a horrible passer. All he does is rely on his running ability like he did in college. He's going to turn out just like Michael Vick.

I don't think he's that bad, tbh. I remember watching a Monday night game when he playing well, but the wrs had 16 drops. He's not fast enough to be a Micheal Vick.

His passing ability is also terrible because no one gets open for him. His best WR is Roydell Williams. Roydell Williams, people. Give him a receiver. There's no way they don't draft one this year.

Also, I just don't see the Giants as being that good. I'm just not impressed with them. I don't see it. I was impressed with what the Colts the year they won. They looked like a good team. I saw other teams losing, not the Giants winning.

Yeah, he may not have that many great receivers, but there's alot of QB's who have decent seasons despite having shit receivers. Vince Young just isn't a good QB, that's what it really boils down too. There are ways to compensate that fact. The Jaguars don't have a stellar passing game, however Gerrard had an excellent season. He played smart, didn't throw horrible passes, and how many of his receivers can you name?

They're losing players and aren't signing anyone, either.

Free agency is the most overrated thing in the NFL. The Colts almost never sign free agents. The best thing for picking up talent in the NFL is the draft, which is what the Giants are probably doing.

There's alot of other teams who do this too, not just the Colts. I don't want to sound like I think the Colts are the only team who does anything right.

.

Matt Jones, Reggie Williams, Ernest Wilford, Dennis Northcut, Mercedes Lewis (TE, but a legitimate passing option)...

Also, they have a highly effective running game that garners so much respect that defenses have to play to stop that.

I'm not saying Young is a great quarterback, but I do think he has the potential to be very good, a top 10 or top 5 one day. He needs a few more years, but I think he can pass the ball, he just never gets the chance to prove it because he's throwing to Roydell Williams, David Givens, and Eric Moulds' corpse.

I think that they're subconsciously cashing it in.
