I am basically on the same page as you here. However alot of these newcomers bring it on themselves. I was the same way when I was new here a long time ago. I have seen quite a few newcomers fit right on in with our twisted sense of humor and in instrument discussions and what not. I think posts like "What's your favorite CoB song?" "What kind of equip does this band member use?", etc. Should be stickied to prevent newcomers from making new posts like that and bringing ridicule upon themselves. You already done great with the interview and pics threads.

I'm the kind of webmaster who wants to make this forum what this forum should be: a place to have a discussion about the band and everything related to it and make sure there's a nice and friendly atmosphere where everyone are entitled to their opinion.

EDIT: I'm not going to ban you for giving me critique. It's more than welcome. And like you said, fans make the forums, not webmasters. This forum is for you people and I made this post because I figured the situation had gone out of hands (I've received numerous emails about this matter).

i can understand what you are saying here, and can relate to it, but a lot of what goes on here is more joking than anything. i think that the problem lies in this... any time someone finds themselves the new guy in a "leadership" role, it doesn't do any good for them to immediately start changing things, people resent that, because it is someone they do not know. i think if you had taken to time to get to know people here, to understand how things work, and maybe let us get to know you, then what you are trying to achieve would be much more accepted. look at bob, everyone knows bob, and if bob plays moderator, no one gets butt hurt. and i'm sure you know, that this doesn't just apply to forums, it applies to life, i saw plenty of this while i was in the military, new guys coming into leadership roles etc, and the ones who tried to change things right away failed, and were resented, while the ones who watched how things worked etc, were well liked, and the change was much more welcome.

People don't get the "joke". The atmosphere is uneasy, people don't feel welcome on this forum and like I said I've got numerous e-mails complaining about this. I'm not trying to step on anyone's feet here, I'm just trying to make this forum a better place for everyone.
 
I understand the resentment towards so called "fanboys" who appear every day or so, but at the same time it would be more mature for folks to just say nothing when its clear what their view already is. Engaging in silly banter is just that: silly.

seriously, there isnt any harrassment on this forum. just because some people hate AYDY, sure you all can hide behind your "well all opinions are welcome" shields, but if thats the case...stop bitching about us hating the album. the only time people ever make fun of someone on here is when they say stupid shit or ask stupid questions that have been answered 10000000 times, or stuff that everyone already knows about. or when people come on here and start threads praising AYDY, when there are already a million of them. the damn forum has about 8 pages of shit now, when it used to have about 3 maybe 4. 8 pages of mainly stupid crap. i loved this one, i forget who posted it, new guy or not, it was retarded but the thread "Why does Alexi Spit?".....who the fuck cares? why does ANYONE spit? thats the shit people get made fun of for and no one understands :loco:

Just don't say we don't welcome them.
