I stated repeatedly that that was not a concrete fact or that I could prove it, it was an observation that I had seen several elitists getting into the band with the new album. If I'd known we were on Instant Death forums, where everything you say can and will be used against you, I wouldn't have said it but JESUS CHRIST SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Aside from that, nec said that my post was factually inaccurate, which implies that he has numbers. If there are no numbers, my post isn't automatically factually inaccurate, it's factually unproven.
Frankly, 90% of necs posts seem to be him being an asshole to someone (sometimes deservedly, but still).
This is one of those times where the person he was criticizing deserved it, especially since they took it so seriously.

You have no evidence to suggest that this is true, aside from conjectural suppositions as to who is an elitist (and frankly I don't trust your judgment at all on this matter; you probably think that I'm an elitist, which just goes to show how both stupid and ugly you are). Given the nature of the audience that you claim, your statement implies that there is something different about this new album that was not found in previous albums, and this is so blatantly not the case. Elitists would not randomly stumble upon a new album in a band's discography that is so aesthetically similar and find that it's great. Basically, your statement is factually inaccurate in that your proposition is so unlikely that it shouldn't really even be considered, as well as in the fact that it's completely devoid of any facts. Maybe you've seen this album appeal to a few assholes on the interwebs, but that's hardly 'breaking through to the elitist crowd'. Find me one elitist who has made an exception in the band's discography for this album.
The term "elitist" in regards to music, and metal especially, is hilariously never used correctly. It brings many lulz.

I don't see how saying something like "with this release they seem to have broken through to the elitists," which is not a strongly worded opinion, merited something like that. If you want to dispute something, dispute rather than troll. I freely admit that my statement is probably factually inaccurate. But I think there are much more worthwhile things to discuss than how wrong I am.
Agreed, I have no evidence.
Wrong, I don't think of you as an elitist, just a condescending asshole with fairly good taste and a massive knowledge of metal.
My statement would imply there was something new, but I assumed that since this is blatantly not the case people would understand that I'm indicating surprise here. obviously it's really unlikely that something like that would ever happen, but then sometimes an album just clicks with you when nothing the band has done before clicked, even though it's very similar. Strange shit happens.
Your ending statement is simply foolish.
Anyhow, if it'll make you happy, I'll amend my statement:
"Despite the fact that this album is stylistically almost indistinguishable from past releases, several people I consider to be elitists have found themselves liking it when they had never particularly cared for Amon Amarth before. From this observation I'm going to make the wild conjecture that maybe the same thing will happen to other elitists."
And yes, V, the term elitist is being used inaccurately here.

I do get it, I just think that Dodens' initial attack was unwarranted. I try to act on the internet like I do in real life; when someone says something I disagree with I disagree with them rather than flaming them. And so I tend to expect that when people disagree with me they'll disagree rather than flaming me. And so when someone flames me I tend to take it seriously, and if this makes me look stupid to you internet types I'm sorry. From the outset I never said I had any evidence aside from what I'd seen going on. I'm sorry that you people are so tightly wound.

But back on the music topic, I was surprised to see Edguy opening for Kamelot, as the impression I had gotten was always that Edguy was bigger. Am I completely wrong on that count?
